Shouldn't 36 Armour make my character "a 36"? What gives with the math?
(36 + 36 + 36) / 3 = 32?
If I assume Exotics = 20: (36 + 36 + 36 + 20)/4 = 32 I guess thats how it works?
ALSO:
Whats the difference between the first 20 levels and the light levels thereafter?
-
12 light
-
Level 21-32 21=20 light 22=32 light 23=44 light 24=56 light 25=68 light So on so forth... 20-21 is 20 light 21-32 is 12 light
-
12 light is needed for one light level Itd make sense if you have played before dlc 30 light on each armor piece brings you to level 30 but with more light level they cant change the system
-
Every 12 light you have total, equals one level past 20. 36 + 36 + 36 + 36 = 144. 144/12 = 12. 20 + 12 = 32, hence why 32 gear has 36 light on each piece.

Edited by HecklingJekyll: 3/24/2015 7:06:14 PMWhy did they make this system so convoluted? Wouldn't it have been much easier if it was just the average of all of your armor pieces (with a current light max. of 32 per piece right now)? Example - 32+32+32+32/4=32 32+32+30+30/4=31 There would be no need to check some arbitrary chart for light levels
-
Nobody knows. But it takes you to level 32
-
36 is light = (36+36+36+36)/12=12 levels 20 base level+12 light level=level 32
-
Right???

Someone is confusing light (a gear stat) with light level (your level based on your light stat). The difference is the first 20 levels are reached through gaining experience by killing enemies, and any levels beyond that are reached by equipping gear with light (gear stat), which increases your 'light level'. Your actual level remains 20.

Light level.
-
Because that's simply how much light the armour gives and that light contributes to your level.
-
Every 3 points of light equals 1 level, once you hit level 20. So a full set of armor with +27 will get you to level 29 because 27 divided by 3, equals 9. 9 + 20 = 29. Using a higher number, if there was gear with +42 light, then a full set of it would get you to 34. See? Up until you are level 20, it is EXP based. Once you are level 20 however, it is based on the light level of your gear.
