Trading Cannot Wait, Bungie.

Okay Bungie, look. We love this game, we really do. I often pause and inspect the craftsmanship the artists put into the backgrounds, forestry, and the likes. I don't even hold any grudges about the cryptarch! (Amazing, right?) To me, I just can't put this game down. But if I could, I wouldn't be typing this, would I? As a very experienced protector of the Traveler (3 level 32 hunters... Well, 2 and a 30 warlock~) I have had all exotics but 2 in the game for.... About a month now. The now forsaken Red Death and the mystical Thunder Lord. I've been completing every single raid, strike, and nightfall on every difficulty, on every character, for the past 6 months. Now, my vault is filled with about 10 duplicate exotics that I already have 10 of. Heck, I've even dismantled a Crux or two. (Don't be ashamed, I gasped too.) But there is one major issue. If I get a duplicate exotic, IT BECOMES USELESS. Now, this extra Plan C or 3 extra gjallarhorns I have, might be useful to someone who can't obtain one, but for me, they're a wasted 5 hours of effort and time I have dedicated to this universe you have crafted, just to get a pointless extra. What about someone who has an extra Red Death or 3? (Like my friend who got his 4th one yesterday.) If they don't have a gjallarhorn, suddenly we both have something worth over 100 strange coins to each other-- but nothing to ourselves. Now, I understand how you might call this a complicated problem, but it's likely the biggest problem in destiny. Yes, the sword in the crota fight may dissapear, but that only stops me from slicing his face for about 5 minutes. Your loot system is literally built around trading! You want destiny to be a social game? Give players a reason to get to know other guardians! Even if you still aren't convinced trading is the solution, I propose an equally beneficial idea. What if you were more likely to get exotics/rewards that you didn't already have? This will help prevent player burnout further (Getting duplicate exotics from a 2 hour crota kill kinda depresses anyone.), as well as actually proving to us the claim that you wish to respect our time. Wether you listen to the tower's guardians or not, we still love you and your game, bungie. I think that eventually you'll make the game of your dreams. You just need to start focusing on one aspect, not everything. Either way, Super out and ready~

  • someone in a previous post suggested allowing a fire or raid team that started the raid or strike together to trade loot they got from that mission with each other until they go back to orbit. I like that idea. you've got a minute or so to decide if you're willing to trade and cuts down on the potential for abuse. Plus, it incentivises playing the whole raid instead of dropping in at the end or fishing for checkpoints.

    • Hope there's never trading. People will start duping and exploiting it anyway they can.

        • Trading would ruin the game. Yes I'd like all of my friends to have a prized ghorn. What ppl seem to not realize though is once u make a new character and he hits 20 within seconds u could have ur friend that has duplicate gear turn u into a 32 in seconds....so now u have a new player that is instantly 32 with zero exp with any of the raids or has a true mastery of said class.

Exotic for exotic, and not weapon for gear! Gear for gear and weapon for weapon only. No glimmer, shards, upgrade parts or any miscellaneous.

IF Bungie gave me the impression they were responsible enough to implement a trading system into the game that couldn't be taken advantage of I wouldn't mind it. However due to their constant lack of acknowledgement to community feedback threads, the lack of consistency in QA and proper patch implementation, and the downright failure to take take PVP serious enough to provide servers for PVP (Lars Bakken), the failure to accept environment as cover without nerfing it's accessibility (Luke Smith), and arrogant removal of weekly activities from the core game group instead of the ADDITION of DLC activities for those that bought it on top of the core game (Jason Jones)..... It is not a conceivable addition to the game without them, honestly, SHlTTING the bed we lay in as they sleep comfortably at night under their nice warm blankets with the letters "E U L A" stitched upon it.

            • I have every exotic and raid pieces and set I the game I have a level 32 Titan, hunter and warlock and I have multiples of some of my exotics e.g 3 thorns, 4 gaj's, 2 lost words etc etc... What really bugs me is that my mates don't and it would be helpful if they did it'd give me a reason to come on the game again... I love this game but slightly less every day because I just become bored I just keep upgrading the same weapon over and over... I've upgraded 15 vex's for gods sake! What more do you want me to do?

Here's the thing, I don't know why people think it will make exotics easier to get, Bungie already -blam!-ing hands exotics out with Xur. Plus the community will make their own values for each weapon, Bungie could also make it only possible to trade, and not give away gear. It wouldn't be easier for exotics to be obtained because the player would need an exotic of equal value to trade it off. If one person has an Extra Gally and another has an extra Thunderlord, and they traded, the scenario wouldn't change, in the end, one would have gally and another would have thunderlord. They could also mark raid/IB gear, Vex, Necrocasm, raid legendaries, and raid ships/sparrows/shaders, un-tradable, so they keep their value.

              • You're wrong. You basically just said you need to make two trades then trading us done for you. That doesn't mean reading is needed. It would become pointless after we all make our 1 or 2 trades. The player economy would have to be totally reworked. Most say trading is NEEDED cuz they're missing one thing. You could not be more wrong at that point.

              • This game is literally built around grinding and collecting. If they added a trading system this game would have ended over 3 months ago because there would be nothing left to do once you have every exotic. They can't do trading because the already dwindling community would completely evaporate.

                • Once again: NO TRADING. As others have mentioned, it damages the game far more than it will ever help it. Actually, if trading was implemented, they would probably lose a ton of players. How about an extended use for Exotic Shards? That's what the problem is here

                  • As much as I love games that let you trade destiny as it stands would become far too easy for players to run out of items to hunt for. Now here's the catch. "As it stands". Later on in the game when there is a large amount of gear and maybe give exotics somewhat of a roll system to them (like maybe one multitool will have firefly and another might have outlaw as their first perks) that would make exotics a tad more unique even if it's the same gun. At that point I believe a trade system would be justifiable and worth looking into.
