• Spybot: S & D is not spyware. Sony installed it in my VAIO in the factory. No matter how bastardly Sony is, they don't install spyware into a computer. The only spyware I've ever had installed on my computers from a factory was a Microsoft XP.

 • Just follow these three easy steps: Step 1: Take sledgehammer. Step 2: Walk up to computer. Step 3: Smash computer until satisfied.

 •
Posted by: apocalypse 343 guys? i don't want to alarm you, but i think spybot S&D is not really an antivirus. a few weeks ago i ask for help with pop-ups and a forum ninja wrote that some antivirus are really adware, spybot S&D was one of the one listed. after i delete that from my systerm, the popups suddenly stopped. and my new antivirus found alot of files infected by a trojan or something like it. i suspect it came from spybot.
*sigh* I want to flame him, I really do.... But I won't. Spybot S&D isn't an antivirus. It's a program that eliminates adware and spybots on your computer. I am also relativly sure that Spybot was not responsible for the trojan unless you downloaded it from a crappy site. [Edited on 1/29/2005 5:41:55 PM]

 • How do you people get that many viruses, tell me, I'm curious. The most I ever had was 7 when I let my AV subscription lapse for a year.

 •
Posted by: GameJunkieJim SpyBot S&D works a tad better than AdAware, but the AdAware is much easier to use effectively. Both are great, but don't run them at the same time.
Yeah, one of my friends tried that and also tried loading both Macafee and Norton on his computer, it wasn't pretty. •
Posted by: GameJunkieJim Well, Norton has a lot of issues with exploitability. Also, Norton sees a lot of AdWare as virii. Get AdAware and remove all your adware, then run your AV again, you may find the problems solved.
Really? I didn't know that. Oh well, I still prefer Norton Antivirus.

 • And try SpyBot this will get rid of any spyware or adware that is on your computer. This is a free program as well. [Edited on 1/29/2005 8:27:53 AM]

 • Try this program. Its a downloadable program Macafee provides called Stinger. It's free and it will scan your computer and should get rid of the viruses for you. I personally prefer Norton but they do not have something like this. Just keep your antivirus stuff up to date from now on, I suggest Norton. [Edited on 1/29/2005 8:32:26 AM]
