I've had a number of strikes where ive gone into them and people just let you complete them doing this on the weekly is annoying specially when they end up getting
Better shit than you

What they should do, to dismiss this issue, is make it so that if you don't so much as come into visible view of the strike boss, you get nothing, including "kill X target" bounties, or do a strike without dying. Why? They can't add a way to kick people, it will get abused. There's already a auto-booter for people who are idle for 15 minutes, but people they can just nudge the controller. You can't make it kills or damaged base either, as active players who are just being outpreformed by some guy who's loaded out with Fatebringer, Black Hammer, and Gallarhorn Will just make you feel redundant sometimes. Sure, people who still leave themselves idle will be a waste of a player slot, but eventually the trend will die out once there is no returns. There can even be a repeat offenders penalty if this is still an issue, if you constantly fail to reach the boss, an un-removable item enters your inventory that is "consumed" evertime you actively complete strike. This token while in your inventory prevents you from gaining rewards, including bounties. That's a little harsh, but it would work at greatly reducing the issue.

Edited by Envision86: 3/5/2015 9:14:14 PMThis is why I was pissed when they didn't add optional matchmaking to the weekly. My first weekly using matchmaking was Tuesday night, and of course, there was a guy who just sat outside for the entire sepiks battle and didn't do anything. It's sad that the first time I use the matchmaking for a weekly strike this happens, and I knew it would happen eventually given my Strike Playlist history (everyone here has seen afk people in the strike playlist). This is why I would rather solo the strikes than use matchmaking when I don't have 2 friends online to play with.

Back out every time, i don't care if I'm ready to drop the boss, if they go afk I leave on principle.

Boot system; two players vote to kick the third guardian for either "afk or unhelpful" if voted for afk they recieve a prompt saying "still there? Time to catch up" if they dont reach the next zone or catch up in "xx" time they get removed. If voted for unhelpful they will recieve a prompt saying "your team needs you, continue the mission" and will be given a certain amount of time to damage some enemies in a darkness zone. This would reduce kick abusers and would hopefully reduce the number of afkers and others who abuse the system somehow.

I agree!!! I am constanley getting people on Vanguard ROC that start the strike but stay at the beginning and then get better rewards than me at the end!!! The other night one guy did it for three strikes in a row and on the third i thought maybe he isn't even there and doesn't know this is happening so i swung a punch at him and he punched straight back. I then left, finished the strike and he got NO kills and a legendary ship for basically cheating and all i got was a rare engram.

For people saying this feature would be abused, yes it would. But not if it was via vote cast. A player being kicked would have 4 minutes to respond to a vote cast, they would also have to be in the objective area to respond to it. How can this be abused? If you're afk or in another part of the map, you will be kicked. That's how it works
-
I'm sick of this happening!
-
This feature will be abuse if implement. Just like a Raid Fireteam where the leader can kick you out at the last CP. Just imagine, you are doing the weekly raid and upon reaching the final stage you got kick out and replace with another player who happen to be a friend of the fireteam leader. Just my thoughts.
-
here is what i do if someone doesn't move after 10 minutes i will either push them into the enemies line of fire or splat them with my sparrow and if they still sit there and don't revive then i will report them for being inactive and unhelpful and then i might think about backing out to orbit and let the lazy shit try and do it for themselves

Edited by Skywalker: 3/4/2015 7:21:02 PMHaving the ability to kick players would cause more issues than it would fixing the AFK problem. I do think something needs to be done about it. Maybe they shouldn't get rewards at the end or they don't get credit for the strike.

I usually run with friends but when there's one idiot who doesn't contribute in randoms I bail and start over.

Better yet get rid of match making. Problem solved everyone is happy. They knew this before mandatory match making was added to weekly heroic. I enjoy soloing all content except raids. That's not to say I don't play with others but it is at my choosing. So afk is not a problem if you make friends. It's forced match making that causes the afk problem. No boot system necessary.
-
I tried to make this statement once and people got off topic omg well I'm glad others see my point
-
Better idea. Go in with friends and don't let matchmaking do it.
-
Then just leave and report them, dumbass.

Kick them? No no no....Bungie rewards them with wonderful items. I had a guy jump into the end of a strike last night on Sepiks - and then die trying to get into the glitched room. I finished the strike, and got a rare gun and a class item. I did not die once, and had well over 100 kills. The guy who jumped in had maybe 5 kills, a death, and Bungie decides all that hard work definately deserves a MIDA. I have watched people with 0.05 K/D's walk away from crucible games with Gally's. I have watched people AFK in strikes walk away with IB's. This game rewards those who do little. It is ridiculous.
I even put my theory to the test and went AFK in crucible games to see what I would get - I have received more legendary engrams, items, and even a Hard Light, by doing nothing and dragging my team into the loser's circle. I am not exaggerating - the worse you do, the more this game rewards you.
We should start a trend, if you're paired up with someone who isn't doing anything, leave and find another. If people start seeing that everyone is leaving if they just sit there and do nothing, they'll eventually stop and actually participate or they won't ever finish the strikes. I exit out anytime I see someone afk or doing nothing, I'm not gonna carry someone that isn't going to help (I don't mind helping those who are having issues due to the difficulty though).

Edited by DRG JupiterIvan: 3/4/2015 5:18:25 AMIt's worse with lower level strikes. I've been working on my hunter and the strikes I've joined for the early game bounties just have been me and one other guy desperately trying to beat it while a level 25 -blam!-tard just runs around doing absolutely nothing. Edit: also the vehicles in the mars strike need to be removed. Really sucks when I'm trying to get the don't die in a strike bounty or the invective bounty and some asswipe thinks its hilarious to run over you, pretty much forcing you to bail.
-
Hmm not kick them but make rewards drop on the floor as you kill your enemies. That way if they do nothing they get nothing
-
I start the strike, get to an area with lots of enemies, then die so they spawn in with them. I then report them and leave.
-
No doubt. Forced matchmaking for the weekly is an afk retard's wet dream.
-
I see A LOT of people come in, follow me and my partner and die repeatedly in a manner that can only be interpreted as "on purpose", and even though we both report, no action occurs. Really dying for a boot system coalescing with quick replacements from players who que up solo.
-
Bump. I completely agree. It ruins the game. If you're too lazy to do what should be relatively easy strikes then you shouldn't be playing the game at all.
-
I started pushing recalcitrant Guardians with my speeder bike. That gets them motivated.
-
This could be fixed with a simple fix. Make it optional to go in to match making for raids. That way one can raid without people just goofing off in a corner, or if you do play with someone you accept that risk.
-
I like it when they get an exotic and I don't get anything.
