Multiple system connectivity issues

I have made this thread so that another topic wouldn't be flooded with unrelated comments! I have recently received some feedback from the player Popicta on another thread about issues he and his son were having connecting multiple consoles. Not being an expert on networking, I reached out to a Mentor that I saw commenting on another thread who seemed like he may have answers. You may have some too, so don't hesitate to input if you do! Here goes:
I have just made a practice of power cycling the router... For some reason whenever we are both on at home, the next time we get on there are issues with connectivity... He runs wifi and I run wired usually... If I do the static ip he can't connect at all, so the ports get jumbled I think... My router doesn't allow to forward the same ports for multiple systems/ip's
If anyone can provide some insight on his situation it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help, Guardians!

 • What kind of gear do you have? Modem and router? May help a lot more. Internet provider and current dl / upload speed. If your renting equipment from cable company send it back and buy your own. I've had a huge increase in the quality of game play (less disconnect / lag) since purchasing my own and hard wiring my Xbox one. Also had to do a lot of reading / trouble shooting to get open nat type on my Xbox. I didn't think any of it would help much but it certainly does.
