It may take some practice but anyone can do it with any class. The obvious difference between classes is invisibility. Warlocks and Titans require better timing and communication with teammates. Titans and Warlocks should use the ledge as cover and as your team rockets Crota, you jump up and start swinging. On the 3rd hit just jump and quick swing away to the either side and repeat. Try practicing on normal mode first.

Thanks, Engineer 57! Swordrunning saved my marriage! AND my job!

Question to all of you: What would you want on your team? 1. A person who just learned to run the sword via a tutorial and still full of "hit or miss"; or 2. A swordbearer who's running the sword since day 1, knows every single trick and will get the job done without stress. Posts like this gives you a lot of the 1st option. Won't surprise if you join a random and keep hitting the wall over and over again because someone is "trying". Because someone is using YOU as Guinea Pig.

Cool!

The thing I wish people understood is that in Crota (Hard) it takes 18 slam attacks to kill. That would be 3 swords, 6 hits per sword, 3 hits per down. I see people go for four constantly, (if you can get it, awesome), but why not play it safe? Get three slams, give yourself time to return to safety, let your squad take him down again and repeat. This ensures maximum safety, and reduces the chance of wiping greatly.

Thanks man! This is the one thing I have the most trouble doing in Crota's End. And people always expect me to do it since I have a 32 Hunter.

A good way to play it safer and make sure you don't die Don't use your super when taking the sword, just run and grab the sword and go invisible on the rock, if you take a hit from a thrall it's ok After you hit Crota the second time, run into the ogre room and use your super to go invisible Simply walk back up the stairs into the middle room, collect orbs to heal, and wait This ensures you will not get an accidental hit from boomers while going back into the middle room and you heal 100% between all swords

I don't trust anyone else on sword, they always suck and I prefer to have the dependent role in my own hands, hopefully your tutorial makes me more confident with others as SB's

Here are 4 easy steps to follow if you want to practice being the sword bearer with any team!!! 1- Tell everyone that you will be the sword guy, convince them that you have done it multiple times. 2- Try your hardest! if you keep failing blame it on the team so it doesn't looks like you suck! 3- Act cool, and get angry when failing, keep blaming on the team. 4- You should have gotten enough tries before they either kicked you or finished the raid. GOOD LUCK

I think the biggest thing is how to practice. but really all you need is a good 2ed with a ghorn run it on normal 2 man just don't kill crota get a few runs in then whip and repeat

posting for future reference

The trick for me is finding a team who is willing to let me practice a bit.

I ran sword 4 times in a row last night, just for fun.

last week we were running crota nm for song of ir yut mg drop. when we got to crota the guys wanted to try to get the kill but we had no sword runner and were a man short. they all decided i should do it. on the second attempt we took him down. needless to say i was pumped. i've run sword now for the last 7 kills on crota and feel pretty confident with it. just this morning we decided i'm gonna run it on hm this weekend. we've beat him on hm just not with me running sword. we usually find a hunter for it. hopefully not anymore!

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NEVER RUN THE SWORD AND IS A HUNTER SIMPLY GRAB THE SWORD RUN TO THE ROCK ON THE RIGHT KNEEL COUNT DOWN FROM 3 AND THEN JUMP AND WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY CALLING OUT YOUR ROCKETS then hack away. you will easily get 3 hacks in per kneel which will easily kill him (hard mode) in three swords. As you get more experience start working on your timing you can usually start taking chunks of crota's health out right before he kneels. This is all about timing I like to look at his health and count the wave of rockets...after the first wave hits and I see his shields at about a quarter then I hear of the whistlers of the oncoming rockets thats when I start hacking again. If you work on this and get good you can two sword him then. another tip is always blink strike him right in the ass (I like to jump and blink strike) this will reduce the chances of him whacking you right after you go inviz. Another tip for hunters is that you dont need the titan bubble. Just kneel on the rock and count down from three the second you go inviz call in the rockets...if you stay near the back of crota's platforms the boomers should ignore you (9/10 times they do). use jump and the melee button to superman away from crota after your done licking him with the sword...if sword disappears and your a hunter activate blade dancer and air melee the hell out of there and use vanish. Crota engrages at or around the "C" so watch that I think it takes 15 RT slams for enrage. thats all you need to know to run sword. Its not hard please dont get impressed when these hunters run the sword and are able to get his health down to half on first run...its just not hard. Soloing a gatekeeper portal is harder than running the sword honestly. If you need practice join a raid team dont tell them you suck at sword and just practice who cares (thats what I did). Lets help this community grow and eliminate those sword bearers that feel "special" because they are good at a very specific and easy task :)

I ran sword two nights ago, Hard, using slamx4, and we failed but I got the hang of it. Last night, second try, with a new combo... r1x3, R2x3, got him down in 3 swords. I learned not to be greedy, as the previous night I had enraged him on the 2nd swords 2nd down, so ogres spawned as the over... well I did it twice last night, and man it's awesome. Also ran my titan this morn for my pal in normal, first time as well, and 3rd try we dropped him and I he dropped a helm for me. Woot, #swordblessed lol
-
Ran the sword for the first time last night on normal (Defender titan lvl32). Managed to kill crota on 3rd try.
-
I just killed him using my Titan, you're welcome....

U say any class but hunters are the only ones who go invisible ..... So this is unhelpful to titans and warlocks
