So, looking at the DestinyLFG sites, I remember seeing one entry for Guardians to take on "Crota's End" in Hard Mode that ended with, "NO 31 WARLOCKS. Idiots."
And I was all, "Heyyyyyy...I'm a 31 Warlock. Why you gotta' be like that?" NOT actually replying to the post, but just inner monologue. I haven't done a lot of raids yet, so I probably don't have enough experience (or powered-up weapons/CE raid armor) to lead a raiding party. But I've noticed want ads for CE either seek out a swordbearer, or lead with saying they can be a swordbearer.
So...would it be possible for a 31 Warlock like me to be a Swordbearer? Usually, I have end up being the "medic" and reviving (if possible), or having to contribute in some other minor role. I don't have any other characters--my job and my travels take away from my "Destiny" time. (Cases in point: I was out of town when Xur was selling Icebreaker, and again out of town during most of the last Iron Banner) Of course, I'd have to study some video on the swordbearer role during that part of the raid...and the other part of that is finding a raiding party willing to give me a chance to step up to the plate and take a few swings. So to speak.
I'm 2 pieces of CE raid gear away from 32 (I have the Deathsinger gauntlets, and I've been using Starfire Protocol until I get the CE raid armor to swap out). I'm just trying to maximize my opportunities to get those raid armor pieces since I missed out on the Iron Banner boots.
So yeah, any helpful thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
EDIT: I should clarify that I'm probably sticking to just CE on Normal until I do get to 32; I got lucky with one group in my only attempt on Hard Mode. And thanks for the comments!

I use all 3 classes and I agree it's hardest overall for the warlock because of glide. However, once u have the timing of the teams ability to drop Crota it's just as easy as the other classes. It's can be done on all 3 no worries

Edited by owen_legend: 4/16/2015 9:53:11 PMI finished crota on hard yesterday as warlock swordbearer Since our hunter swordbearer who was useless decided to rage quit It's so easy to get 3 slams and a strike per down safely
-
Did it in norm with my warlock. It's fairly easy. If you need a raid group hit me up. We're doing 2 crota hm tonight, matter of fact, if you want to tag along for one and get some gear.
-
Warlocks are easy if your skilled im able to do easy 2 sword on hard it just depends on your team
-
i have done it on all 3 classes, warlock is hardest becuase of the slow jump.
-
Can a fish swim?
-
I've done it with my lock
-
Solo raid on normal with my warlock. If your on Xboxone hit me up. You can raid with me and my friend if you want. We usually two man the raid on normal. I would have no problem helping you out downing Crota while you learn to chop him.
-
My clan sword bearer is a Warlock he kicks more ass than hunter & titan combined,.
-
If your on Xbone add me and i'll run the raid with you... give you tips on running sword... after you do it once you will see its really not that hard... and you will never have a problem finding a raid party again
-
I killed him as a swordbearer as a warlock yesterday on hard
-
Console?
-
I can do it so much easier on the Warlock then the Titan... but i also use blink so im not gliding away all slow... if you dont have invisibility as a crutch you have to have your timing down with your fireteam members
-
Ive tried a few times as my 32 warlock on normal, and i just cannot do it, cant get more than 1 hit in before he gets up and cant get away in time
-
I use the sword on all three classes.
-
Its possible. I've done it as a Titan. Even as Hunter I rarely use Invis if I don't pop Arc Blade just before grabbing sword. I just stand on the edge until his shields ~25%. I'd imagine the hard part to be "floofing about" up to his ledge.
-
again, can= yes.... should= no.
-
It's pretty easy. But most teams will want a 32 for faster crota kill. My he jump is a bit glidey but you either cancel it with x (or whatever bottom button is on os4) or use sword swings to push you forward in air. Practice on sword guys on earth and moon. I avoided for months and finally got into trying and dropped crota in three swords easy

Edited by KillShot2020: 2/27/2015 9:50:32 AMCome join me later when I finish work I will drop crota solo on hard for u so u can practice your sword techniques Clint0nSt0thard is my GT
-
Of course, I do it all the time, just as easy as hunter if you know what you're doing
-
It's possible. Just harder to do because glide isn't as precise as the other jumps.
-
I run sword to perfection with all 3 classes on normal or hard mode... just takes a little more practice with the titan and warlock for the jump timing...
-
Any class can run the sword, but because of the invis hunters usually get the nod just to make things easier, plus the titan and warlock jumps can be problematic at times to get away quickly without getting hit. For normal I'd say any class can do it fairly easily, I ran it on warlock and titan on normal without too much difficulty. For hard mode I usually prefer a hunter to run it just to make the fight run smoothly, but any class can do it if needed, it just takes practice.

In NM crota, as a 32 warlock, I can take crota down to 20% with one sword. I find that being a warlock swordbearer is easier than a Titan. *I main lock, so i guess I am more familiar with lock's jump/glide.

I ran the sword with my sunsinger warlock multiple times. I usually run it with my titan or hunter because its super easy with them, but it can also be done as a warlock. You dont even have to glide away. Just hide behind the wall where the horns are
