Is the City Really Safe? New Theory, Pics.
The Darkness is coming back, we will not survive it this time -The Speaker
Yeah, because you don't know how to construct a -blam!-ing wall you masked dunce. Many of you here have probably read some of the Grimoire about the classes role with the City or even the flavor text of certain pieces of gear pertaining the City itself. One constant seems to stand out between the 3 classes: the Wall. Titans built and defended the Wall against the forces of Darkness, also known as the 6 Fronts. The Hunters ventured out past the Wall to scout out territory and reclaim Golden Age secrets. The Warlocks studied secrets of the Traveller and Golden Age behind the Wall. The Wall must be pretty amazing then right? Wrong... Has anyone ever taken the time to really look at the Last City on Earth's defenses? They are pretty pitiful. The "Wall" is actually more like 'walls', it isn't unified at all! To Start, off, let's look Northwest of the Tower. As you can see, there is a pretty decent sized hole in the Wall, big enough for an army to push through without too much resistance. Now it is located near the foot of a mountain range and there are a lot of trees, so that'll give you some natural barrier, but there is plenty of room for the enemy to maneuver stealthily through the trees in a pretty big force. Next up Northwest/North. As a continuation of the Northwest wall, you see that it ceases to exist once it comes in contact with the foot of the mountain. Normally this would be due to the natural barrier the mountain creates , but you'll also notice the small crevice between the wall, a force could easily squeeze through that without resistance. Turning North, you'll see a wide expanse of hilly terrain. Now, the Tower does have cannons pointed due North, but a collection of several artillery pieces wouldn't stop an army of Fallen even if they were operating on peak efficiency. It's wide open space! If the City were being attacked on just the North and Northwest, it would be screwed. The East of the Tower is pretty well off, a huge mountain and mountain range is a pretty decent form of defense. The natural hazards it produces such as low temperatures, weather, and general safety concerns will keep most enemies at bay. However if we look back at History, we'll know that this didn't stop Hannibal from crossing the Alps to attack Rome. And we have this picture of the Fallen as early concept are that made me think of this exact case. Who knows? Next up the Southeast. Things get a little hazy around here, the area I have circled looks a bit like a gate to a river in which case, that's a decent defense as none of the enemies encountered thus far seem to have watercraft, but it could still be accessible by air. It's a valley for sure though, if it's land, then it could be either an excellent choke point or a disaster waiting to happen. The South is near next to impossible to see due to the Traveller's position, so I am unable to speculate on this. The Southwest is up now. As you can see by the area in the green circle, it's almost completely barren, except for a lone hill/mountain. No wall no form of defense. Completely open. The area circled in red is peculiar, it's a large hill encircled by a wall. In fact, it seems like the hill has a better barrier then the City does. It's kind of ridiculous. And finally West. The only area I see is a gap in the wall, rather small, but still significant, it ties in with my complaint about the Northwest breach. It seems like our greatest threat may not come from a dormant enemy we protect with our lives, or even warring factions within civilization, but a lack of defense and protective barriers of the last safe city on Earth. The Fallen waged war once, what's stopping them? Also, many people bring up the topic of a call to action at the Tower, the fact the City is so vulnerable, it makes sense for a Fallen raiding party to invade on a random basis. Share your thoughts on this, I'll add to this topic for sure! Edit: Crap guys, this topic died out months ago, but if you enjoy it or enjoy bashing it, keep it up I guess.. Edit 2: topic is dead guys, please stop reviving it. Seriously, I'm tired of the notifications lol Edit 3: tell someone to do one thing, and they do the opposite. Keep it up.
