The story of Destiny

Im playing through the story again at the moment with my dad and it feels like it was chopped and changed about so much. I imagine destiny was huge beforehand, the cutscenes that are in the game are decent. The whole moon section of the game feels like its leading up to the crota dlc, the dead titan on the floor was a member of eris' raid team i believe, and the wizard you kill after finding him was the wizard that killed him. Then after that we dont see the hive for the rest of the game. The queen treats you no differently no matter what race you are. The vandals that appear behind her are obviously something to do with the HoW raid. Then all of a sudden the whole plot shifts onto the vex and trying to stop them. Theres also so much cool lore and backstory about stuff that i imagine was just thrown out to try and make sense of what they chopped together. Anyone read about Thorn and The Last Word? Cool stories yet hardly anybody knows there is a story. Its almost like the game should have released with a Vex storyline and the vault of glass, including everything about the vex, what theyre capable of and all the lore surrounding them, then moved on to the fallen or hive as you progress far enough. Im not sure how bungie would have made it all work, or how they would have released stuff. I just want some thoughts from other people and whether they think anything Ive said above could be true? Its such a shame that this game could have been truly epic, with an amazing storyline, loads of cool side missions for each faction and what not. And what we got instead is a very good, solid shooter, but nothing more.

I feel the same way. There isn't really a story - one minute you're trying to make contact with Rasputin on earth, but that's quickly dropped and you go to the moon, where the Hive have a piece of the Traveler. Then you get a mysterious message and are whisked off to Venus, where the Vex thread takes over and gets you through that planet and Mars. It's disjointed, to say the least. You can't even call it a story, just a scrambled introduction to the universe. The lore and the grimoire card, though...they keep my hope alive that this series will turn into something fantastic.
