How to solo the Abyss

For those who haven't figured it out yet, it is completely possible to run through the Abyss solo. In fact, it can be faster to do it by yourself than with others. Any character can do this, though there are some gear requirements for Titans and Warlocks. Hunters have the easiest time with the run. You must be a Bladedancer and have unlocked all the stealth perks. For the run, you will alternate between using the stealth provided by using Blink Strike on a thrall and the stealth provided by crouching to run from one lantern to the next. Move on from each lantern as you regain your stealth and clear out your stacks of Weight of Darkness and you should get to the bridge plate with ease. If things seem about to go wrong, activate your super and use Vanish to disappear. For Titans and Warlocks, the run is all about exploiting the AI's aversion to area denial grenades, namely Solar Grenade and Pulse Grenade. Titans will want Armamentarium, Warlocks will want Sunbreakers (It's actually good for something!), and both will need a weapon with the Grenadier perk. Luckily, Murmur has Grenadier and the very useful +2 Agility perk, so anyone who can do the raid has at least one weapon worth using. If you have any alternate gear, switch things up so your Discipline is as high as possible - the higher your Discipline, the less you'll need to depend on your gun. The basics for Titans and Warlocks are simple: As you reach each lantern, you throw a grenade and stand in it. The thralls will only enter it if they are already leaping to attack and any thralls that get caught in the blast will die within seconds. While you stand in the grenade, you shoot thralls to recharge your grenade. This is why you want a second grenade (Armamentarium, Gift of the Sun) - it lets you have one ready and still charge another up. Once your grenade is up (Titans, if you have Aftershocks on you get 5 pulses from your grenade, including the initial blast) you run for the next lantern. If things get desperate, you've got your super - extra grenades from Radiance or the shock field from Aftermath will get you out of many possible jams and Sunsingers always have Fireborn if worse comes to worse. When you finally get to the last lantern and the bridge plate, the instructions are the same for everyone. You need to stand on the bridge plate briefly, in order to get the bridge forming, then you need to stand on the flat rock next to the lantern. Once you are on the rock, only two things can possibly kill you. The first is the lantern exploding. If you have low armor, you may want to jump down on the far side of the rock just before the lantern explodes. The second thing that can kill you is the Ogre that spawns near the second to last lantern. Use a sniper rifle or rocket launcher to kill the Ogre before it gets in range, as you can't exactly hide behind some cover. Once the bridge builds, your stacks of Weight of Darkness will vanish and you book it across the bridge. Enjoy your Radiant Shards!
