Community Focus - The Mav Show

Apr 21, 2017 - Cozmo_BNG

Our focus for this week is the star of her own show. She loves playing Destiny and having a good time with her stream viewers in a comedic environment. We’ll let her tell you why you should tune in and what shenanigans you can expect.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role in the Destiny Community

Mav: Hi there! My name is Mav and I run a comedic, community-driven live stream on Twitch! I like to consider myself the "funny big sister" of the directory. I’ve been playing Destiny since launch and actually had to rent the game before owning it on the Xbox 360. I’ve loved this game since it was announced and I love the community even more! I wasn’t really get introduced to the community until one of the first Destiny fan meetups was created. I had streamed it but was mainly hanging out with some of the ladies of the directory. Ever since then I’ve considered everyone my family and lifelong friends. I’ve never had so much support from so many people and it’s a good feeling to be a part of something that is bigger than yourself.

It’s a great feeling to know we are all sharing this experience together. Where can we find you on the internet?

Mav: You can usually find me evenings at twitch.tv/themavshow where we play games and just try to have a great time! I’m also on Twitter @themavshow usually buzzing around new game info blasts and other community topics.

All right, let’s find out where your loyalties lie. What is your favorite subclass and weapon?

Mav: My favorite subclass is Bladedancer. It's been my favorite forever. Hunter was the only class I ever played until TTK came out and of course then it was hammers for days. My favorite gun is the Last Word! Even though it took me forever to get it, I just love the way the gun handles and I feel like a space cowboy when I use it!

Space cowboy is accurate. So what makes your stream unique? What can our audience expect to see if they tune in?

Mav: My stream is every part of the word unique! I have the most supportive, magical and just all around best friends I could have ever found on the internet and beyond. They’ve really changed my life and I try to change theirs by being the rap god goofball that I like to be. You can expect shenanigans and loud noises for sure!

Sounds like a good time. Ok, serious question. What is a Mavicorn?

Mav: A Mavicorn is any community member. Even if you are there for the first time, you’ll feel like you’ve been friends with everyone for years! I actually didn’t pick the name. Fun fact: my chatroom and community named themselves because I used to be obsessed with calling everyone majestic!

You have been doing this for a while now. What is your favorite experience while streaming Destiny?

Mav: My favorite experience so far in my many years of streaming and playing Destiny would have to be the crazy weekends in Trials. It’s always an entertaining mess on my channel and seriously some of the most fun times I’ve had! There are also the raid nights and we usually tally death counts and try to sabotage one another. But PvP with everyone is always the greatest time.

Anything else you would like add before we say our goodbyes?

Mav: I just want to say for anyone just joining, starting, or wondering how the community would bring in new folks: you are in the best company. I have been a part of lots of communities and the fact that everyone in the Destiny community bands together, works on charity, plays with one another, and meets regularly in real life - it’s just the best. It really goes to show how much work and dedication pays off. It takes effort to build relationships and through the ups and downs it’s been pretty rad.

I’ll agree, this community is pretty special. I never know what you all will do next.

Big thanks to Mav for stopping by to tell us about Mavicorns and streaming Destiny. The next time you are away from your console but still want some Destiny entertainment, give her stream a watch.
