In Halo: Reach Bungie introduced Motion Blur. This meant whenever something moved on screen, instead of looking beautifully rendered, it became a blurry movement. This movement hurt my eyes, made my head spin, and was honestly just a pain to put up with visually.
Destiny is a new start for Bungie. I am hoping Bungie did not just use Halo: Reach as a guinea pig to test out this new thing. I want motion blur out of Destiny, myself. I would go so far as to say I would rather have cutscenes poorly rendered rather than have nice ones that look really poor and give headaches whenever there is movement onscreen.
So, what are your guys' thoughts on the matter? Personally I hate having the motion blur and pray it does not return. Do any of you share my concern?

I really don't care. If they give you headaches I can sorta sympathise, but I've never really experienced that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that partially a performance thing? Newer games have been pushing the 360's hardware to the limit for the last few years, so I wouldn't be surprised if it were to help rendering times on the console. Or maybe I'm just wrong.

Motion Blur, if implemented [I]properly[/I], can be fantastic. Just look at the Crysis series. The thing is Bungie has yet to implement it properly.

Actually if you really played close attention, motion blur was in Halo 3 also.

That was without a doubt the thing I disliked most about Reach. I really hope that Reach is the only game they ever use it in.

Edited by MoonDawg: 2/4/2013 8:33:51 AMAgreed. I also noticed a lot of "ghosting" in Reach when the frames just looked very sloppy. I really hope they take out the blur in Destiny. And I think it will be easier to eliminate motion blur with the new consoles since they pack one hell of a punch.

I wasn't too much of a fan of the blur either to be honest. Still, that doesn't mean Reach didn't look great though.

Every game that has motion blur should give you an option to turn it off.

I never noticed any motion blur, maybe my eyes aren't very good (even though I don't need glasses), or maybe I just don't get headaches from watching a screen, but I never notice any change in frame rate, motion blur, etc. unless it is a MASSIVE difference. Like the difference between 60HZ TV and a 100HZ TV.

I find motion blur annoying as well and turn it off in every PC game that gives me the option.

I personally liked Blur in Halo Reach. Granted it wasn't always handled well in cut scenes and gameplay.

Personally, I liked it, and I liked it even better in the Beta when it was more excessive than the final game. But the main thing was actually frame blending, not motion blur itself. Where the previous frame would blend into the current frame. I like that...though if I remember, that actually made it to where two frames were rendered at once so it was effectivley 60 FPS. I could be wrong though, I doubt Forgeworld would be able to run at 60 FPS or something.

Honestly if blur did return, you could probably turn it off anyway (especially when it eventually gets on PC). But I'd expect it to be good and not annoyingly bad like a lot of games blur "systems" are.

the only game that had motion blur that was nauseating and made me unable to play, was Syndicate. i could not play that for more than 5 mins before becoming sick. bleh.

I honestly never noticed it. It seemed the same as any other Halo game as me. Except I wasn't a huge fan of Reach in the first place, so it was a worse Halo game in my opinion game >.>

It makes the game look better. Crysis did a good job with its motion blur.

It doesn't bother me too often (Halo: Reach for example) but in excess, I know that feeling. I was watching a recent DayZ standalone demo and the amount of motion blur in the video was enough to make me stop watching before the demo was over. I actually became quite ill feeling. My question is, why do they add motion blur? Does it really help with the rendering of environments and such as you quickly view a new section of the game? Or is it just stylistic, serving no other purpose.
