We all know the Fang of Ir Yut has a very unique ability that it is the only weapon that can mark out targets. Originally I and many of you Guardians thought this was used to track the sword bearer, it works for that too but let's think ahead.
The fallen all except shanks have arc shields, the Fang has arch dmg, not only that but the fallen are the only ones that can cloak and short rang teleport at the same time. What better enemy to mark one out than one that can cloak and teleport.
So not only will they be hard to spot while fighting other fallen they can teleport short or even long distance (Archon Priest). Out of sight, out of mind. The raid final boss may very well be another Archon Priest or higher with the ability to cloak and teleport if he takes too much dmg and heal with the help of survaiors.
This will make the Fang essential in the next raid especially considering the boss may teleport to the background and thus making knowing where he go much more difficult. But the Fang can mark him for a short enough time for you and your fireteam of snipers to see where he goes and dmg him enough to eaither make him teleport somewhere else or return to the combat front. And knowing the fallen they will use mass cloaking and teleporting captains to their up most advantage.
In conclusion the Fang is an over all great tool to use against this new raid for its tracking of possibly cloaked bosses, arch dmg for taking out captions faster, and long rang for the also possibly cloaked snipers.
These are all of my thoughts, opinions, and theorys that I'm sure some of you guardians have realised and those who have not now you see the amazing aspects of this weapon.
I'm very excited to read all of your comments and thoughts on my Theory! Have at it Guardians!!!
Edit: thanks for the 250+ support, good thoughts. And I remembered the fallens first strike has 2 bosses so I wouldn't be suprised if their raid has 2-3 bosses.

I just mark everything with my gally
-
OLD THREAD EVERYONE NO MOAR NECRO PLZ duly noted that there is no raid and ascending is real. This was an old theory.
-
Fatebringer 365 /thread
-
Raid or not, that target marking perk is 100% useless anyway. And a 300 Fatebringer is still a better Arc weapon than Fang, Edict & Timepiece combined. And a 365 Fatebringer is even better.
-
I remember these days. It was a time where we thought that we would get a new pve activity that requires you to have perfect communication and execution. It was a simpler time, it was a better time. Now we sit in an airlock, waiting for our synthesis to cool down so we can successfully shoot a fish in a barrel.
-
LoL NO ONE will use a Fang during the raid now that there is a 365 Fate. We have loads of invisible targets in PoE and I have yet to see anyone start marking them lol. If you can see it YOU CAN KILL IT. No need for a crappy little green light.
-
How's the fang working in the raid? Haven't tried it
-
nice raid bro
-
I remember these days. Before they dropped the hammer of sadness on us... So much happiness and such high expectations for the raid... Hopefully prison of elders can live up to the hype of a raid.
-
I remember this thread, I kid you not. I also remember how long ago it was...
-
NO RAID its prison of elders
-
Why use fang when ou have FATEBRINGER
-
So much for that
-
pretty sure I read in the HoW article that there isn't going to be a new raid.
-
Good thinking. I'll probably run that or Fatebringer primary, my Arc LDR or murmur secondary, and Super Good Advice or Thunderlord for my heavy. Pretty good load out for Fallen.
-
Well thought out and concise, new raid in the pipeline just don't know its exact circumstance yet, but still a very good post, thank you.
-
I was thinking the same thing and have been using that perk to get used to it. It seems useless now.
-
Its to mark the boss in the new updates raid - the purple ball in the tower
-
I hope you realize how wrong you are lol, it's not the only gun that marks enemies dumbass
-
It's to mark Atheon cos she's easy to lose

Edited by grimple1: 2/9/2015 2:41:23 AMYou actually think bungie has this planned out? I'll just be over here repeating the same bounties since day 1.
-
If you think bungie (who cant fix heavy ammo, cant increase vault space, cant fix crota/vog bugs, cant fix loot, couldnt provide even a basic story arc and who cant even have Xur sell heavy ammo synths) added this gun/perk 6 months in advance bc it is part of their master plan.... then i have a bridge to sell you. PM me for the details.

Edited by deews809: 2/9/2015 7:26:05 PMI don't know how many people have noticed this, but fang causes bullets aimed near a marked target to track. I noticed it when i was dead watching another player use it and the bullets were following the enemies into rooms and then when trying to snipe acolytes and having my bullets veer and hit the Knights they were passing. So if 2 players go head to head in pvp with VoC and fang then if they both try strafing the fang will win.
-
They said vex would be essential for crota. Fatebringer.
-
Bungie will not let it happen. Only because this game is RNG. Can't depend on one weapon when drops are by luck. A raid cannot be one weapon dependent unless they change things
-
lol, I used the marking for about 10 seconds, hardly lasts, doesn't show through walls, the other reload option seems much better. I think it will be great just because it's arc damage, plus the invis enemies can be seen, it's not that hard.
