A Short Story, for your concideration

A Love Story A refugee convoy in the City's early years is being led to the safety of its walls by several Guardians. A young girl becomes fascinated by one of the Guardians, a Warlock. During a rest period, she shows the Guardian a drawing she made. It is of the Guardian and in fine detail. He urges her to keep it as a memento that he will always do his best to protect her. Several years later, she is an apprentice in the Tower's Research Center and meets the Guardian again, who hasn't aged a day, courtesy of the Ghost's resurrection process. She begins to have romantic feelings for the man out of time and helps him fill in much of his missed history. After several years, she is old enough to complete her apprenticeship and she decides to marry the Guardian in an old-fashioned ceremony. The newlyweds are forced to endure lonely periods without each other; months, sometimes even years go by due to their respective obligations to the City's welfare, but they cherish what time they can be together. She desires a child to complete their family, but due to being a resurrected war machine, all Guardians are rendered sterile. Crestfallen, she begins avoiding him and he sinks into a pattern of self-destructive behavior, acting without abandon on the battlefield, feeling helpless to escape his undesired fate to fight and kill and die for all eternity when all he wants is to live as a normal human again. After the Battle of the Twilight Gap, she fears he may have been lost forever without making amends, but she finds him tending to several orphaned children. They reconcile and decide to adopt a few of the orphans. They finally feel fulfilled in their lives for over a decade before an outbreak of a mutated strain of bubonic plague happens in her Research Center. Physicians rush to quell the strain, but it is suspected that most of the infected will die within weeks, including the Guardian's wife. Heartbroken, he and the children visit her often but he cannot bear to lose another loved one. Without the approval of the Vanguard, he embarks on a volatile quest to seek Simiks-3, a House of Winter Servitor rumored to be fashioned with the remains and knowledge of Winter's Prime Servitor. He discovers it in the ruins of the Ishtar Collective on Venus and sets out to speak with it. The Guardian eliminates the Servitor's guards and challenges the machine with a choice: detail how the Fallen trans-mutate matter into Ether so he can save his wife, or his Ghost will remove it forcefully and leave the Servitor dumb and blind. It refuses, citing he is the enemy. Unbeknownst to Simiks, the Guardian brought a Defender Titan with him for this very outcome. The Exo Titan suppresses the Servitor's abilities while their Ghosts download the machine's knowledge. Despite the Titan's recommendation, the Warlock decides against destroying the Servitor. He returns to the City armed with the necessary knowledge and process to save his wife - but it's too late. She passed away while he was gone and his children refuse to see him, claiming he ran off on a fool's errand while she needed him. Now the Warlock is truly heartbroken; he has no one left to protect and the Vanguard have disavowed him, striping him of status and support. He turns to his only companion, his Ghost, and asks it to detail anything he downloaded from Simiks-3 about the machines called the Vex and how they can manipulate time. For several years, he listens to Ghost speak about the Vex and their capabilities. In his sorrow, he pushes on himself a suicidal quest to find a way to use these Vex to go back and save his beloved. He starts his quest by renaming himself after an old Earth legend of the dead; Osiris.
Strictly supposition of course, but I had fun planning it. Tell me what you think fellas.
