Honestly I'm terrified of deep water I can't see in. I always have this feeling that something horrible is right underneath me.

For one i'm not that strong a swimmer, but it's also that too. Doesn't help that the water is so murky in my area that you couldn't see a fish if it was right in front of you. Unfamiliar terrain + zero visibility = a very bad time.
