My son loves watching YouTube videos of the most random things. Mostly people playing Minecraft. I decided to watch a few with him today and the entire time he was watching the Minecraft ones, all I could think was WTF? I'm not trying to offend anyone... I'm just curious, what's so fun about that game? Am I missing something?

you are a grandpa - south park.

Edited by Psyntifik: 1/5/2015 5:40:50 PMI thought people just build stuff on that game. It's a brilliant and cheap way for people to be creative. I could never get into the survival mode, the start is too slow going. Would you ask someone what's so interesting about drawing over and over? Honestly, just watch a timelapse video of someone building something really cool.

Yeah most of those youtubers suck. The only guy i watch that plays minecraft is ridgedog. But he makes it look fun through lots of editing

Edited by Mr Coco: 1/5/2015 4:27:18 PMIt's an open, randomly generated world with a lot of creative potential. That makes it perfect for Youtubers to milk a good 5000 episode Lets Play out of. I find those people to be some of the biggest wastes of space on the planet, because most of them spend those 5000 episodes either screaming like a 5 year old with ADHD, or narrating everything that they're doing (or both). And somehow, people flock to those videos like crazy. I don't get how people can derive pleasure from that dribble.

Minecraft and Counter Strike are some of the most overrated boring shit games that everyone plays on Youtube.

The games fun because you can explore and make your own story. These youtuber a however just use mods and play some stupid trend along with screaming throughout the video. They spam these vids constantly on YouTube which makes me hate them. Me and many others despise them.

It's fun for a while, but after you run out of things to do you, well, run out of things to do. I still played it for a lot longer time than Destiny or CoD.
-
Its fun and I play with my daughter all the time. Something we can do together during the cold winter months.
-
I wonder the same thing.

My wife and son started playing it on ps3 and I thought the same thing. Then I got them the upgrade for ps4. I started playing at that point, it is insanely addictive and actually fun.

Edited by Swagu: 1/4/2015 7:34:26 PMThere are some pretty -blam!-ing cool mods in minecraft and it's really fun if you have friends to just -blam!- around. It isn't the god of a game it's made out to be though.

I can't stand watching people play Minecraft. I could when I was younger, but now it bores me to tears. The only thing that kept the game interesting back when I got it during the Beta was just all the mods out there, but even those bored me after a while. Playing with friends to build a community is pretty fun though (but then again, any game is fun with friends no matter how bad it is).

Edited by LordOfFagmirals: 1/4/2015 5:22:53 PMLetting him watch these vids will literally give him autism But some crazy shit can be done on that game
-
It's more fun playing with friends. Surviving together, building a community. Not the best game ever though...
-
Is an open world game where you can create stuff with only a few limitations. The game is pretty good is the horrible community that exists within that harms this game.
-
It's like Legos but there are infinite possibilities. There are simple things and some truly outrageous things too. Basically a good way to kill time

Edited by xGhostface80x: 1/4/2015 5:07:25 PMLook up minecraft Beetlejuice roller coaster. On YouTube.

It's basically a building game with very few limitations. Every map you make is unique and big. If you look up some videos on YouTube of top creations it's really quite impressive what others take the time to create.
