To balance the Crucible, how do we?

The Crucible can be fun at times, yet we all must admit that it is so disgustingly broken. We all know that Bungievision will never actually solve the issue, and just put out more DLC, but it's fun to dream, right? So I've decided to make an entire forum post that no one will read. Hahaha, hehheh, ehhhh. Here we go. The five main problems are supers, heavy ammo, special weapons being blatantly overused by everyone, some exotics being annoyingly powerful, and certain weapons being absolutely useless. Supers are a touchy subject, if you were to take them out completely would seem pointless, as all you would have are your grenades n' stuff. My thoughts on it would be to reduce the gain of them significantly, maybe so that it would be 1 or [i]maybe[/i] two each game for each player, provided that they play well, or something along the lines of that. Heavy ammo is just plain dumb. With supers you actually have to do at least something to gain energy. Heavy ammo is just "hey I found a box and now I have insta-kill". To keep it in the game, it would have to be one spawn, once per game. That makes it so map control is a bit more apparent (Or remove it entirely, either works. :3) Special weapons are annoying. Shotguns, insta-kill. Fusion rifles, insta-kill. (Sniper Rifles are sorta fine because you need to hit headshots) Special ammo shouldn't be given on spawn, and be less common in drops, pretty simple fix. Exotics being a bit too powerful, i.e. The Last Word, SUROS Regime, Vex Mythoclast, [b]POCKET INFINITY[/b] (You get the point.) is another problem, like I said. They should be nerfed, yet not to uselessness. Like Red Death. What was with that Red Death nerf? It was fine the way it was. I'm still super salty about it. Anyways, exotics, nerf 'em someway. Weapons being absolutely not worth using ever. Weapons such as low impact anything, and literally all Pulse Rifles except four. Why? The point of having multiple types of weapons in an FPS is to promote different playstyles, right? But then again, modern FPS' all have this mentality of USE THE EASIEST WEAPONS TO USE AND YOU'RE BETTER THAN TOP TIER COMPETITIVE PLAYERS IN LITERALLY ANY GAME thing going on. Oh well. Also gametypes. Everything is basically a deathmatch with extra objectives. Except for clash and rumble. Those are fine the way they are. Salvage is a great step, yet it's a deathmatch and the relics only give bonus points. CTF would be great, I think it, along with some other changes to the Crucible, maybe like the ones I have mentioned above, would really save Destiny's PvP. If anyone has actually read this, one; Damn, you have some impressive patience. Two, if you may, give me some of your ideas on how to make this PvP a bit more balanced and fun for all. And I just realized that I wasted my time doing this as no one will actually read it. Fun!

  • I believe there is a "hardcore" playlist coming out where it takes the radar and supers out. This is something I am interested in aswell as adding more modifiers onto it like only primaries , no exotics etc etc. Right now there is nothing competitive about the crucible. With a hardcore playlist that removes a lot of the gimmicky crap who might be able to call crucible slightly competitive.

  • I think you touch the right subjects. Supers are, like you said an effy subject and I think it should just remain as it is - mainly cause its hard to balance it between good and bad players (good players will have it more often atm) I think what you could do, is make it more counterable. I mean right now its pretty hard to counter any of the supers (with exceptions) but if you make it more counterable there is another situation where skill>luck/random - and yet the supers would still be strong, if done correctly ofc. ( Got no suggestions as to how, off the top of my head) About heavy ammo, I think its quite bad atm. Sometimes you get wrecked by the same guy with heavy 3 times in a row - he shouldnt have ammo for that tbh. I really don't like heavy ammo, it just seems like its GG when you get into a slug fest vs this. Maybe thats what they want, but in that case yo could argue that its up entirely too much? Exotics; well I think exotics counter exotics. The thing about Surous, is not that it cant be countered, its just soo easy to use that you see it so often, dont get me wrong, it is really strong. But when Im not rusty I find it easily countered by TLW. I'm merely suggesting the thought that some of it maybe a side effect of easy to use/popular guns. Until recently I actually only thought that the only OP thing was Fusion Rifles. I had a break for the last 3 weeks, sort of, and coming back I don't find Fusion Rifles quite as bad (did I miss a nerf?) and I thought Murmur Would wreck pvp for good. ANyway, those are my thoughts

  • What we need A maximum of two - four special ammo drops, dropping on two sides of the map, every four minutes. Heavy ammo drops are limited to one drop a game, assuring nobody runs around with rockets for half of the game. Exotics are exotics, and people will continue to use Suros, Thorn, TLW, Vex..etc. Possibly include an exotic playlist, where people with exotic primaries can enter and battle each other to test their skills. We need MUCH more game types, because the only fun one is Control, and i rarely even play pvp for that. I'd like to see a big team battle version of Halo, so 8 vs 8 ready to destroy each other. King of the Hill, Capture the Leader, Capture the Flag Last Guardian game type = some type of Halo infection, where there are 16 players, 15 Guardians, 1 dark Guardian, and the more Guardians that die by the hands of the Dark Guardian, the more teammates he now has. Last Guardian to stay alive wins.

      I stopped reading at "we all must admit..." Your starting premise is flawed so whatever follows based on that premise has little weight. Start over.

      • Patch it out conpletely. If it doesnt exist it cant be unbalanced. Alternatively remove everything except set weapons Or Remove all current pvp mechanics and redesign it completely and hope its decent

      • Why not just everyone get the starting auto rifle, starting sniper/shotgun and a shot rocket launcher? PVP isn't mean to be completely balanced. People who get better loot should be able to kill faster. People need to stop bitching about every thing. Not everything needs a nerf and not everything needs a buff. For -blam!- sake.

        • Reduce the availability of special ammo to two spawns a match and heavy to one. This will force players to use their primaries and encourage players to use their SPECIAL weapons for SPECIAL circumstances.

        • I very rarely play the crucible but from the posts that I have read about it the players are always screaming for weapons to be nerfed the problem with this is that the nerf then affects the weapons performance in pve so until they separate the nerfs or buffs from one to the other the quick and simple solution is ban all exotic and legendary weapons from the crucible apart from the iron banner which should remain an anything goes contest. Also have the IB as a permanent playlist like CoD had a hardcore playlist alongside the normal one

        • I disagree about the lack of playlists. The differences between Control, Clash and Skirmish are really there if you care to look for it. Having played more Skirmish lately I can say it is too easy to get matched with Control oriented dashers that run off by themselves, respawn too quickly and don't pay attention to your ghost waiting to be revived... frustrating.

            Should've added Thorn to the OP list. It's so amazing. Also, a gamemode called "Inferno" might be coming, there's a grimoire card for it. Basically, no supers and no RADAR. Just sight and sound. I was also saddened with the Salvage gamemode, I thought you could actually use a relic. CTF would be an[i] amazing[/i] gamemode! Also, to balance everything out just nerf all guns so they all do 10 damage. Except Khostov. Khostov is the real OG.

            • Agreed. Personally I love pulse rifles in pvp. If you land two full bursts into someones head with a high impact pulse rifle theyre dead. The fun part is when you nail those first headshots and as youre pulling the trigger for the second burst your target whips around and kills you with three little body shots from a mythoclast. Or one lucky bullet from a hawkmoon. Or one thorn headshot. Or two suros headshots. You get the point.
