To those wondering why XBL is down
Lizardsquad, a DDoS hacking squad based in china, has hacked XBL and PSN for christmas. This is just a bunch of stupid little kids thinking that they're powerful by ruining the holidays. Don't blame Microsoft/Xbox for this one because a DDoS hack is nearly impossible to stop before it happens. Xbox is trying to fix this problem and hopefully XBL will be up in short time

I wish people like this would just stop..they're ruining kids holidays, ones that just got a new console with their favorite games and can't play them online cause of morons like that! They will be shut down eventually and I hope the time they get in jail is rough and agonizing! All just for likes, retweets and notoriety! Lol what douche bags!

Same thing happened to Eve Online a while ago and the result is very similar to what we are experiencing right now

DDoS isn't really actual stereotypical hacking. It's just sending such a huge flood of users onto the servers so fast in such a large amount that it crashes them. Really these kids are not that smart they just got access to the right equipment to do it
