I revised the topic because from the comments below it is clear that only the people with no social skills mute their mics. My friends and I meet tons of cool new people just by talking; and hey here is a secret, that's how you build your friends list for raid groups!!! Meeting new people!!! Wow imagine that!
-
Apart from with my friends then no, doing strikes with jibbering 12yr olds shouting, playing music acting like complete tards i can think of better things like just having the game sounds and music

I agree with their philosophy that voice chat should be opt-in. Too many ragers, jerks, racists, or, honestly children to make their voices heard standard. I set my default to join voice chat, and I probably unplug the headset due to wankers as often as I do because there's someone cool to chat with.
-
I find most tryhard, diehard gamers to be mal-adjusted and weird. So no thanks.

2 RepliesI have been playing online FPS with mics for 10+ years, and can not recall a single time a random person said anything productive or helpful. I used to create a party of one just so I wouldn't have to manually mute everyone when I was on the 360. Silence is golden.
-
Because, aside from the high and mighty who are too lazy to mute the few bothersome players, there's a large portion of people that don't even know the option exists. By default, voice chat communication is fireteam only. You have to manually opt-in to being placed in team chat when you're solo. There's also no option to allow fireteams to go to teamchat, by default.

2 RepliesBECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE YELL and talk crap, listen to music so loud, can't hear anything else and eat chips while mic is on and smack their kids and take "liberties" with their private parts I was excited about chat last IB, till I realized not a single game did anyone talk strategy. But I did hear all the other nonsense I listed, and more I just leave my mic off now
-
I have no desire to hear anything you people have to say......
-
I have one with out talking
-
No reason to
-
People asking for it are, quite literally, a vocal minority. I don't talk to people because I'd only use it for callouts. Sadly, 99% of randoms have no idea of map-specific callouts so it's pointless.
-
1 ReplyPush button activation bro. I don't wanna here u breathing, eating caughing, or kids crying. The majority of headsets for consoles all use voice activation. While high end pc gaming headets like razors all have voice and push button.
-
I just don't want to talk to a 14 year old while i play video games. Unless I'm playing a raid with randoms there is no need for me to talk to my fireteam. I just point and bow at people that's good enough.
-
1 ReplyEverytime I join chat all I hear is swearing when they die and blaring music, then promptly leave.
-
The people that wanted it were a highly vocal minority, I guess. I don't mind that it's available for people that want it, but I doubt I'll ever use it. I don't need to hear a bunch of know-it-alls barking out ill-advised orders in PvP. "Listen to me guys, I know what I'm doing! Take A on Blindwatch! It's the best! Why is no one helping me keep A???" No thanks.
-
1 ReplyHave you read some of the posts people make on here. That is why I don't talk to anyone.
-
It's 12 year old little squeakers. Nice to not hear them.
-
I normally play with my headset unplugged unless a friend invites me to play them I plug it in, or I am going to do something with some one
-
Basically because of the minor inconvenience. I join up a Crucible game with a friend and chances are we're already in a PSN voice party. I don't feel like minimizing the game to swap settings to game chat and then use the d-pad to enter Crucible chat. Just a few buttons really but I think most people just don't care THAT much. If I joined a game and voice was already on I would likely talk to strangers much more.
-
because after reading titles like this on the forum all day while I'm working I imagine that anyone who plays destiny will immediately start screaming at me if I join chat. Turn off the caps lock bro.
-
1 ReplyI don't like other people
-
We are all autistic
-
I use my mic, but I'm always in party chat. If someone jumps into a strike playlist and I see they want to talk to me, then I'll try to jump out of party chat, but party usually works better for me since my connection to the in game chat can be rather wonky.
-
1 ReplyGamers are anti social. Simple as that.
-
Party chat most of the time, yet ( some ) people cried about not having it.
-
I'm always on my mic... But I normally Dont PvP so there's that. And then I really don't do strike playlist anymore... So unless they implement a true prox chat it'll be me and my friends.
-
Lol!! Everyone cracked so hard on bungie for not putting chat in the game then NO ONE USES IT!!
