In the past the tower vendors offered two kinds of auto rifles. The first type had little impact and a very high fire rate. The second type had decent impact and a high fire rate (e.g. Shadow Price).
But after the DLC has been released you only have the choice between little impact and very high fire rate and absolutely no impact and even higher fire rate.
I find that a bit unsatisfactory.

1 ReplyPeople bitched that ARs were OP for that very reason, so now this is what we get. The weapons sold at the vendor are nerfs.
-
Yes, this. And hand cannon choice is similarly limited, for legendaries anyway.
-
Almost got Do Gooder V max'd and I'm loving it. Just wish it had a few more rounds per mag.
-
Actually, the AR with a little less rate of fire doesn't shoot as fast as it seems. I kinda like it
-
Even the new iron banner auto is like this

1 ReplySHouldnt the stock change with the Vanguard vendor? maybe we will see a Shadow Price styled Gun this week. I hope so anyway, i love mine too, and with the Gunslingers trance perk on my hunter, its is relentless.
-
2 RepliesLooking at them and then taking the new content into consideration I'd say they were made with thrall crowd control in mind. Look at the raid and nightfall plus story missions. Lots of thrall hordes that don't take much to kill just high rof and good mag size. Not good for much else but maybe that's why
-
3 RepliesUp for anything will out dps most weapons. It's very nice.
-
This is one of the first things I noticed too. I was saving up marks and ranking up levels so i could pick up on of the auto rifles prior or the dlc release, only to now have them change and ruin it all the weapons. I had literally just got to rank 3 on vanguard when the dlc hit and now I have to rank up again to get those comendations if i want to buy anything! screwing! .. Although the perks are better the stats are worse. Now I have to strat from scratch and rank up New Monarchy from 0 to get a decent legendaty auto rifle! OR hope I get one from a drop, which I don't have much luck with either! :(

2 RepliesThree Little Words is a solid pulse rifle.
-
14 Repliesinteresting, I can buy a Vanguard weapon once I get a commendation, and was wondering what to try out first. given that I'm not a fan of the faster Rifles, (Hex Caster is garbage) I think I'll steer clear of them. might invest in The Devil You Don't instead.
-
1 ReplyThe one I got (up for anything) from a vanguard package seems ok. A little less impact than my shadow price, but everything else seems good. Plus it has field scout so it can hold 50 rounds per magazine.
-
3 RepliesJust use a scout rifle.
-
2 Repliesyup that was the first thing I checked, the auto rifles some of those would be better than atheons epilogue.... ...if they had field scout theres one rifle that the crucible guy sells that comes with field scout and seems decent enough for next weeks ironbanner and I just happen to get it as a drop from a legendary engram, its taking forever to lvl up though
-
3 RepliesI noticed this and was very disappointed! I was hoping to see an auto rifle similar to shadow price/grim citizen/ vanquished 8. I love auto rifles with medium rate of fire and good impact, and I'm sad to see that the updated vendors don't have any to offer.
-
8 Repliesyou can totally tell it's an American formula game; fire enough bullets and hope to hit the target. Whereas the rest of the world counters, if you can't do it with one bullet, don't do it at all. Love my Shadow Price and ain't giving it up. Ain't letting it down. Ain't gonna run around(to other vendors) and desert it.
-
I concur I found a legendary auto rifle with no impact. I don't want these guns with no impact takes a whole clip to kill someone
-
Likewise. I love my shadow price. I wish they'd give us an upgrade option like the exotics. Say 2-3 commendations plus marks. Let's us reset and boost the dmg up. I see the factions also give higher atk items now. What about those ppl that got/bought faction guns? Now they gotta do all that grinding to get it again. And the older gun, useless. Why?
-
3 RepliesAgreed. I might be doing less damage, but im never giving up my Shadow Price.
-
5 RepliesIt actually looks like a legendary Shingen with similar stats but better. I want that gun.
-
5 RepliesAuto rifles are for wimps
-
If you buy the Vanquisher III from the New Monarchy faction it has higher impact, the slower rate of fire you are looking for. It has the new damage level as well. I used this auto rifle before the dlc and will be buying a new higher damage level one to replace it.
-
2 RepliesThis is the very first thing I noticed when I went to the Vanguard Quartermaster. Auto rifles are my main primary weapon on all 3 of my characters. The Shadow Price was the first Legendary weapon I bought after grinding bounties to get to Vanguard level 3. I was really disappointed to basically only see 2 Dr. Nope's in the new inventory. While I have fun with the low impact rifles, I much prefer something that can deal out quite a bit more damage. Have no idea why Bungie thought this would be a good idea.
-
1 ReplyI've always preferred auto rifles with high ROF and low damage, so I'm actually satisfied with the new guns
-
4 RepliesSame here. I think I'll shoot for an upgraded suros regime
-
7 RepliesI was quite surprised and unhappy when I discovered this late last night. I love my Shadow Price and wanted to get the new AR so I could begin leveling it in preparation for Iron Banner next week. Imagine my surprise to find out there isn't a new version of Shadow Price, but tons of versions of Doctor Nope. :( All is not lost though. The New Monarchy vendor has what we are looking for. It is called the Vanquisher VIII, or something like that. Now I just have to level up my New Monarchy rep from 0 to get it. :(
