Be a kind community and read this about my time on destiny with autism.

I am 22 years old and autistic, many people rejected me to help with raids or just general playing, i have made a few friends (what is really hard for someone with autism) who are very kind and just accept my way of thinking. I was wondering what are your toughts? Are the ones right who reject me or should you accept people they way they are? Everyone is a special snowflake in their kind of way. Btw if you have questions about it, just ask. "This is not for attention, just for curiosity" Edit: Wow so many people are kind and accepting, it warms my heart to see such great people!

  • If your condition does not even affect your playing, (I'm assuming since you mastered it VERY quickly that it doesn't...) I would not announce it unless you want that special attention, positive or negative. Not saying to hide it by any stretch of the imagination. Just that it doesn't sound like it should be any kind of an issue.

    • Does your autism affect the way you play the game? You seem intelligent and I assume you know how to play the game since you're on here. No one needs to know you have autism so it shouldn't affect your gameplay. I'll run with you any day if you're on Xbox one.

Im a misanthrope and don't even accept myself the way I am. Everyone can be better. Still, misanthropy means I expect very little of my fellow human being and tend to be very patient. I haven't been formally screened for it, but it's quite possible I have a minor form of Asperger's as I demonstrate each symptom to some degree. There's still considerable debate as to whether this category of cognitive patterns qualifies as a true "disorder", as it confers as many advantages as it does disadvantages.

        • I don't think u should tell everyone your autistic because a lot of people are ass holes and that's just asking for trouble. but even if u do tell people it shouldn't change anything between you and your friends.

              • They are wrong for rejecting you. Sometimes guardians can be a bit immature and forget they are playing with real people online. I understand why you tell people that you have ASD when you play, if I was in your position I would likely do the same thing. Once you build up a group of online friends I would recommend playing with them instead of looking for new groups each week. (This is what I do. I find that in random groups there are often very rude players and it's more fun to play with friends anyway.) If you are on playstation feel free to invite me if you need help with a Raid, or Nightfall. See you Starside!

                • As another person said, you dont need to tell anyone. That isn't what defines you, doesn't make you a worse player than others heck you are probably better than me so those who refused to play can do so but ignore them. I'm happy to raid with anyone (well as long as squeakers dont go on and on) Decent people will have no issues

                  • In what way does it affect your gaming? Fair play for telling people but I wouldn't as people are often cruel when they don't understand something or someone. I've done a load of raids now so wouldn't mind so much if someone was inexperienced or not that good my team and I help people through but they have to be the right level from their own hard work.

                    • As long as you can play good, what else matters? It's a game. But remember, the gaming community is full of immature people who like to act like "hot stuff". So don't take it too personally.

                      • I don't see a problem with autism. And there can be many reasons why ppl reject you. And just a little tip. May be better not to tell everyone you have it. It's not like ppl go around and tell each other their problems etc. Don't take it in a negative way :)

                          • Why let people know? I'm not going to start up a match, and then ask the fireteam if anyone is gay/black/female/disabled/albino, and then judge them on that. There's no need to hide anything, but there's also no need to throw focus on it when it has nothing to do with the game. Can you shoot? Can you follow the flow of the game? Can you work in a team for the raid? If the answer is yes, then great. That should be the end of it.

                            • Dude players who don't have intellectual or physical handicaps get rejected for the raid.

                              • Well that's one way to get attention. I would reject you just because of this.

                                • There's no right or wrong involved, people can chose to play with whoever they want. Just because you have been diagnosed, it doesn't entitle you to special treatment compared to others who my be socially awkward/jerks. If people don't enjoy your company they are entitled to find others to play with. If they were jerks about it that's another matter.

                                  • Depends how your autism manifests. If you can play normally, no reason to refuse. If you run off in the opposite direction than your team to go shoot at lvl 3 dregs while the rest defend the confluxes, that's something else.
