Another edit, for the dumb people: post-mortem melee kills should not exist because it means the player has taken fatal damage, AFTER you've died, from an attack made well BEFORE you died, NOT because of burn or any other intentionally delayed/over-time effects.
Post-mortem means the server has registered the damage AFTER YOU HAVE DIED instead of WHEN IT WAS DEALT.
Some serious shit needs to be done with the lag in pvp. Extremely long respawn delays, damage that isn't registered and people dying to your melee AFTER they've killed you, a couple of seconds AFTER you actually hit them.
It's annoying as hell, and I know for sure it's not my damn connection.
Edit: I am not talking about burn and damage over time effects. I am talking about delayed damage from things like NORMAL, UNCHARGED MELEE, which does NOT have damage over time, or other melee attacks that do NOT apply damage over time or any burn or anything like that.
Nor am I talking about removing post-mortem. Learn to read.
edit: Why did you retards revive this shit?

4 RepliesYou haven't seen anything until you get a First Blood Postmortem.

1 ReplyUm... Throwing Knife?

Maybe you weren't around for older games, like halo 3. But I will take a post mortem melee over the way it used to be. I used to get so frustrated by getting my melee off but still dying because they "got me first". It's so much more fair this way and it's impossible to make it seem right with the lag any game will have no matter how good the servers.

2 RepliesThe Double Melee Kill Trade? Not Supposed to happen? I've seen it so many times I thought it was a feature.....
-
I kill people all the time after I am dead with grenades. I get a shitload of kills that way
-
I find it funny that this is still a problem....
-
I seen this happen in MMA once, 2 guys knock each other out a the same time.
-
1 ReplyNot remotely good at pvp but I think this is bs

This is a legit problem but it helps me complete my bounties, so I'm alright with it!

1 ReplyI always think about this and what if the force of the body flying at you just happens to kill you? Seems stupid but think about it. A guy flying 15 mph and has a knife out, dies then continues falling on you with said knife out. It might kill you
-
2 RepliesLong respawn is caused by your idiot team not playing together and holding zones or areas. The game is struggling to find a safe spawn point.
-
2 RepliesYa I understand where you are coming from iv had it happen a few times. I also throw my knife as a last resort before I die. The knife will hit them make the damn noise before I die. They will kill me and 3 seconds later I get post mordom pisses me off. When I shot someone with my red death 12-15 times and they don't die/get dameged and turn the -blam!- around and almost kill me before the damage actually takes their health down. The messed up part is I saw this guy with red connection go 33 and 4. I know that kd isn't that important in this game but how the hell does someone with shit internet get the highest score?
-
1 ReplyIt's your connection that's the problem. Check yourself before you wreck yourself you fanboy.
-
They should if youre a sunsinger. But anything else, no. Unless throwing knives count.
-
3 RepliesIf I use my stick grenade and you shoot me dead I think post is relevant. Or if I use foh and that leaves arc energy on the floor and you run into it that is that persons own fault and post is relevant.
-
Its lag, usually on the reciveing end, i get kills like that all the time.
-
Or that you managed to get your opponent with you melee as they killed you, admittedly the servers damage handling is v.bad but there are various situations where postmortem melee kills could happen, I think rather then attempting to fix one minor element here,IR would be better to approach the entire damage handling problem to allow for fairer multiplayer there are various other kills that shouldn't happen as well for example I've been killed by someone(with bullets) after they had been shot with golden gun,

1 ReplyI have played my fair share of online games. Every single game has had this happen in one or another way.
-
I've never seen a game without lag glitches like that. It's a high-speed game and the traffic has to go from your console to your ISP to the Internet, then to Bungie's servers, then back to the Internet to the other players ISP to their console. There's going to be some latency. That latency is going to cause things like melee killing someone after you die, or mutual kills that technically couldn't exist. Is this your first online FPS?
-
Makes that postmortem bounty easier to get. Silver lining

I find gamers, and people in general, to be so fickle and here is the proof. I am not dissing you because I do agree but let me shed some light. Games like this have problems like this do to a lack of lag compensation. Games with lag comp, i.e. cod, cause people to complain about the issues lag comp generates. Games like this have no lag comp and dish everything that happens and people complain still. You have to pick one evil as acceptable or find how to eliminate latency, your choice.

I feel you bro. This is one of the main reasons I rarely play the crucible. It's just a lag fest. Dying after you know you've sufficiently killed someone sucks. It also happens with guns too--especially shotguns. Ignore the idiots on here. I know your pain all too well.

PvP scum.
-
They need to fix the Net Code in the Crucible all together. It's just all around bad. That's one of the few things I dislike about this game.
-
Ive actually gotten a few post-mortem melee kills myself, but i completely agree they shouldnt happen. Its only because of laggy servers that they become a possibility, which should indicate something ought to be done about them.
