Let's Talk About Expansion I

What are your thoughts on The Dark Below? My conversations with fellow Guardians has revealed the following complaints and/or questions. I like to consider as many sides as possible so I was hoping those of us with similiar thoughts and concerns could discuss it. Complaints: -Expansion doesn't create more avenues for personal identity (i.e We will all end up looking much the same aesthetically except for shaders) -Changes have emphasized replacement and one-upping rather than simple content addition (e.g WoW's expansions adding a new world with new rules but keeping an old world with consistent content) -Word from Bungie is inconsistent and their actions, leading up to The Dark Below, haven't explained the reasoning behind patches and new content, nor the 'goal' of each expansion (e.g The goal of expansions in Warframe is often to change how one approaches the game or thinks about moving and fighting in the world) Questions: -Why does it seem that The Dark Below adds so little to a game in need of more content? -How does the new expansion address the repetitive nature of Destiny's content? (I.e Missions without memorable characters, sometimes lacking reasoning beyond good vs evil, strikes that follow the same formula of a few stages with a form of mini-boss leading to a bullet-sponge in the form of an enlargened regular enemy) -Why is it that changes to the game, such as taking away materials for marks or increasing maximum light level, for The Dark Below are necessary? That's the best I can put together at this moment but if you guys have any others I'll do my best to add it to the list. Happy discussing! P.S Personally, I know the reason I stay with Destiny is for the fact that I've met some cool people who I enjoy playing with. Since Destiny is one of the few games effectively centered around a social environment, I'll likely continue to play it until something replaces it. Considering the common growing dislike of Destiny and distrust for Bungie, I imagine my gaming peers will be very eager to jump on to something else that even hints of being more open to the gamer in general.
