Scrap the whole "reset exotic to zero" system. Just implement another row of damage upgrades, with the final upgrade requiring another exotic shard.
Problem solved.
You're welcome.

The best thing to do is quit Destiny :) The people who don't see this update as being a problem are the basement dwellers who don't have any responsibilities. The people who are lvl max prestige on CoD a month after the game drops. The people whose skin will blister if a glimmer of sunlight touches it.

1 ReplyOkay, new problem. Each exotic upgrade is 7,000 Glimmer. Your character holds 25,000. Thats a maximum of three upgrades per week.... Choose wisely I guess huh.

Edited by ChillyPaper074: 12/6/2014 9:26:08 AMAgreed.... furthermore on the entire weapon upgrade issue do this ... http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82693095/0/0 Reproduced for convenience: Why not allow any weapon to be upgraded to maximum attack (whatever it happens to be). For example, I take a rare scout rifle that does 242. I can upgrade attack (+10) until I reach 300. Perks can be upgraded as usual. If a rare rifle has 3 perks, you can upgrade a perk or upgrade attack. Your choice. Of course, once your perks are upgraded the only choice you have is to upgrade attack (until it's maxed).

Or.. Give us better exotics completely. I wouldn't mind upgrading better items than my current. But to reset the same crap and increase damage...garbage. Time feels like it was wasted.
-
Doesn't need a solution. Quit being bitches and level it. Imagine a whole new exotic of the same type, element, etc, dropped for you from raid. if the damage was higher than your current weapon you wouldn't blink at leveling the new one.

2 RepliesI'm fairly sure it's not that simple on a programming side. People seem to forget that technology is not perfect; sometimes you just can't work around something without breaking everything. I mean, look at most RPGs; whenever you upgrade an item, it's replaced with a new 'version' of itself. Very rarely, if ever, does it involve simply tacking on new upgrades unless they were already there and are being unlocked. Most MMOs, where the development of the game is constant, are the same way; the only way to get new, stronger versions of your favorite gear is to turn it in to someone and get a 'replacement'. "But Bungie tweaks and changes gun performance all the time!" Not the same thing as raising it's stat ceiling to new levels, or otherwise completely reworking how an item operates. It's probably much safer for the game if there's a trade-in mechanic instead of going in and completely reworking items on a fundamental level.

43 RepliesYour simple solution would screw new players who obtained the weapon for the first time. Here is a simple solution. Get Over It! And get back to work, you have weapons and gear to level. Time is Glimmer.

3 RepliesWhile I am not overly thrilled with the idea of re-leveling my exotics, I can certainly deal with it. However I do have a few suggestions to make it less of the asswhip that it seems like it will be. 1. Raise the glimmer cap. 25,000 isn't a lot. That's only 3 upgrades before you have to go and farm some more. By doubling or quadrupling the cap, you once again ease some of the grind off of your players. 2. If an exotic is fully upgraded, waive the exotic shard fee. This is pretty simple. I recently upgraded 3 exotics with the shards after the most recent patch. Had I known what I know now, obviously I would have waited. By waiving the shard fee for a fully upgraded exotic, you keep from double charging a player.(one for the upgrade and then another to fully upgrade it again.)

Nope to easy

39 RepliesThat's not problem solved. After the holidays there will be a ton of new players. Once these players realize that it'll take 3 months for them to catch up to us, it'll put them off from the game. Besides, by the time they have caught up to us, we would have already gone through the 2 expansions. The reason for this reset is to let the new players catch up and not feel severely underpowered

It's no longer an issue update clarifies this.

1 ReplyOr Stop leveling items you're never going to use.

This man needs to be employed at bungie. Give him the title of common sense manager. Everything goes through him!

Weapons start at 300 when you upgrade them with a blank slate.
-
For example i buy the upgrade for red death it starts at 300 base damage but you have the same perk as the old red death like high caliber rounds and its unique abilty red death which heals you and speeds up reload on kills so you are just resetting the entire talent tree of that gun and re leveling it to get to the new damage cap for the expansion so you are not losing your perks for new ones otherwise they wouldn't be the exotics we all love

Got a better idea http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82292079/0/0

1 ReplyNo. No one wants to see 10 rows of +damage modifiers at the end of a skill tree. It's aesthetically displeasing.

Bungie must see this
