Advice for players who plan to play the dlc
If you have exotics that are not upgraded then don't bother wasting time or materials to do so. To keep up with the higher levels in the dlc you will have to trade in your old exotic, an exotic shard, and a buttload of glimmer. You will then get a higher damage or defense version of that same exotic. HOWEVER ALL STATS WILL BE RESET.
To reiterate. If you have a maxed icebreaker and trade it in to get the higher damage one then you'll have to level it back up.
My point is if you have exotics that you were leveling up, stop. Wait till the dlc drops.
Edit: to those smart individuals who don't just take info on the internet as truth.

1 ReplyThis is pointless, just a way to keep the hamster running in the wheel. I have never complained about one thing in this game. I have supported every decision bungie has made. But this is too damn far. Why not just add another node on to the end of the weapons? This is removing any incentive to level my exotics befor dlc. And for all the ones I do have maxed, I just wasted my time? I just maxed my vex on Monday after the patch and had to use a shard because I was one upgrade away. Will the damage on the vex be increased even further? Or did it just get a jump on the rest of the exotics during the patch?

They had a think like this on defiance wre when you upgrade the rarity it reset it. So i guess im fine with it. If your worried about glimmer stockpile in your vault starting now all the little trade ins to the cryptarch that go for 200 glimmer i have a bout 50000 glimmrr worth in my vault.

2 RepliesI think I will reset some of my exotics. I am thinking of icebreaker and ghorn. I think I'll leave suros the way it is, seeing how nerfed it is now I don't plan on using it. If they raise the light level with exotic armor then I will upgrade my helm of inmost light and helm of saint-14. Also voidfang and praxic fire. Then possibly the gg hunter helmet and the mask of the 3rd man, or my crest of alpha lupi for hunter. I'm glad I got a lot of exotics I wont be using (2nd PaT, 2nd plan c, 2nd and 3rd suros and some others)

4 RepliesThis sounds absolutely terrible, I've fully upgraded 9 exotic weapons, and now I'll have to start over on all of them? Hell I don't even care that much about the materials, but leveling up exotics is a huge pain in the ass.

Worst part of this news for me is that I just scrapped a bunch of duplicate exotics for the exotic shards. If I had known I would have saved them for Xur swaps.

You kidding? My chest is the only thing keeping me at 30. Good thing I have another exotic chest that isn't full yet. Also no fully upgraded exotic weapons.

I read the article this morning. Last night I was excited to have so many exotics fully leveled, including those that were buffed. After reading this, I'm really disappointed that I'm going to have to grind them out again, however. Am I mistaken in understanding that exotics won't take nearly as long to level, moving forward?
