BNG: Why did you remove Materials for Marks?
When I 1st read the patch notes I was excited to see the addition of Marks for Upgrade Materials. Finally I would have something else to spend my excess Vanguard marks on. I always like when games offer you options. If you needed extra marks, you could exchange some materials, now if you need extra materials you could trade in some marks.
Of course, that excitement was quickly dashed when I discovered that you REPLACED the (Materials for Marks) with the (Marks for Materials).
Why? Do you guys have some personal grudge against choices and options? Why does everything have to be [b]one way OR the other[/b]. Why won't you provide multiple options instead of limiting us to just one? Why can't you let your players decide what they prefer to do instead of forcing everything to be all or nothing?
Instead of letting people choose if they want to play PvP or PvE, you seem to be trying to push people into both. * Why not just let people enjoy the parts of Destiny they love without punishing them for it? *
By replacing the material exchange, people have no choice but to run the crucible if they want to purchase anything from the faction vendors. Where before, if you didn't want to run the crucible, you could farm some materials, trade them in for marks, than spend them on the faction vendors.
Well, not anymore...
I just don't understand.
* Why couldn't you just remove the (reputation/glimmer) gains and leave the option to trade materials for marks? At an exchange rate of 5 to 1, would being able to swap one type of Mark for another really have been so bad? *
* You provided so many great new ways to aquire extra materials, than took away the only other feature they could be used for. *

This is true and will hurt the overall pvp experience for everyone. I wholeheartedly apologize to everyone, but in the future you will see me and (I assume) many other pvp-avoiding players in the crucible sitting around, playing without heart, losing the matces for the team and the like, because Bungie forces us into doing something we dislike go obtain crucible marks... And yes if I want the dead orbit boots with handcannon ammo I'm now FORCED to play crucible. Forcing pve'ers into the crucible will ruin it for everyone!

That's is the only thing I hate about the patch ! That's how I use to get my Crucible marks by farming and I was really good at it !!! Now Imma have to play crucible which I don't like to ! Thanks Bungie for -blam!-ing that up !

1 ReplyI agree with everything you said except for the vendors thing. I get faction weapons all the time from pve, mostly the nightfall. Ive got two legendary engram drops playing pve last week both were faction weapons. i don't have any of my faction levels up enough to buy from any of them and i have probably 12 faction weapons.

Why is it SO -blam!-ing hard for Bungie to just get something - anything! - completely right? Every single patch/update may (I stress MAY) improve the game in some ways while making it less enjoyable/playable in other ways. This isn't rocket science!

Agreed absolute poop my friends don't want to deal with the lag fest and sometimes I was short some marks had plenty of materials to spare n went that way .thanks for shutting down that option why even open chests now we'd even come across people nice enough to wait before opening and point out obscure chests n materials bring it back I say and my real life friends would agree too many PVp matches for the one gun I want give us a break from the monotony of the grindestiny I also won't bother with dlc .i have spoken with my wallet .

1 ReplyThanks for the notice. I was selling my final pieces of material to get the weapon I was waiting for. I was going to do it last night but the xbox live outage prevented me. So I login this am, head to the quartermaster, and start selling materials. Only I thought "great! New update I can sell them 20 at a time instead of 40". Little did I know that now I sold all of my vanguard marks, and have absolutely no way of recovering them. Is there a no return policy in the 25th century of space somehow. Why can't you buy AND sell materials? Why even collect materials any more when you can just buy them. What do the starter players do know to help gain rank. Selling materials helped them. Huge mistake and another undocumented disappointment for Bungie. After all of the Halo production you guys haven't figured this out yet????

1 ReplySo my main goal in Destiny [before Patch 1.1] was to Purchase the Crucader II [New Monarchy] Scout Rifle Without going anywhere near Crucible. Because I want to play PvE. And I would have Earned the Crucader II MY WAY. Marks for Materials meant least meant I could at least access content even if it is a weapon exactly like another with a different ski and I was working for it my own way. I was also considering getting my Titan Kitted out in FWC gear as a homage to Halo Reach because thats how I would have got enjoyment from Destiny over the next 10 years. With an option Added to Pay Marks for Materials Means I could buy the Materials I did not wish to farm as an endgamer (20+) And other player could use the addition of Materials for Marks anyway they saw acceptable. You changed one for the other without indicating that was HOW you were going to Implement the Marks for Materials. EULAs since 1990s have said as a purchaser I do not own or have the right to access the content of THE SOFTWARE beyond the Authors Original Intent. This is the first time I've seen the the interperatation being enforced towards Use the SOFTWARE EXACTLY as the Author WANTS you to USE it. I thought I bought this for my Enterainment I'm pretty sure Bungie I do not enjoy PvP so I'm not going to play PvP. I've only had One Cruible Game (That My Fireteam Leader picked/Tried|Dropped In and then out of) I've avoided it other wise (I even Bailed on IB 1.0 while the party was forming) 0 Medal Points|0 Medals I thought Bungie had learned from their Atheon Revenge Patch [1.0.2.3] to Communicate better with the Community

2 RepliesQuick thought, if they kept materials for marks, whats to stop somebody buying loads of materials with vanguard marks and then selling them for crucible marks?? It would provide less incentive for players to play either pve or pvp if they are already disinclined to it.

I have a feeling this will come back soon. I only used it in the early days of Destiny, but I see its benefit.

Not too happy about this. It's bad enough that after I max out my vanguard marks I really don't pay the game until the reset which a eight day week but now I can get rid of all the stuff I picked up while I was wondering around waiting for it. It just makes me want to give it up.
