I've been at the moon trying to farm mats to hit lvl 29 on my warlock. These idiots come in and start in the middle of where my run is. Messing my run up, before you say "just join them" yeah they've -blam!-ed the whole run by starting where I was about to go. If you join a planet look for others who are farming mats and join them....
Edit: I was slightly intoxicated when I made this post, I don't even remember making it. I usually back out and go to another planet and farm other mats I need and return at a later time. However, you guys are missing the point I was trying to make in my stupid drunk rant. Farming is much more effective if you join in with someone who is already running their route. If you cut in then you and the other people are missing out on chests.
It's not that hard to spot somebody farming and it takes a matter of 2 seconds. Some of you are just gonna be trolls/dicks and start where ever anyways. But it's all good. I have a post that's trending and a lot of people think I'm a dick so we can be dicks together ;).
See you starside guardians.
Edit: 216 replies.... holy shit lol.
Edit: we can now buy upgrade mats.....
Which means I no longer have to deal with this.....
Which means bungie is awesome!!!!
This thread gave me some good laughs guys thanks.
Edit (again): I just read through and realized nobody knows what mats are. I forgot this game attracts fps players who have never picked up a mmo in their lifespan. So mats stands for materials. Any RPG/MMO player who has been playing for a while uses the abbreviation mats.

This just in destiny plans to add buying mats through micro transactions now..

My only issue with this is that people run terribly inefficient routes and tend to not know about a 1/4 of the chests/nodes. So if I follow them around I have to stop to shoot every dumbass dreg and miss a bunch of chest/nodes. No thanks. I'll just be an ass and cut them off and get in front again. Not that any of this matters anymore but just my two cents.

Heres a life saver guys. When you are going to do farming, max out your internet connection by streaming a movie or downloading something. Then go to your destination and you will be the only one there. On the downside is that public events are rare. I have gone 2 hours on the moon and not gotten one.
-
So if people see you farming they are just supposed to cater their play to suit you? Pretty -blam!-ing arrogant. Also, if you didn't even remember making the post you were a fair bit more than "slightly" intoxicated.
-
"We can be dicks together" ... Ya gonna reword that or is that an offer?
-
Yeah I like to farm drunk too. Fall off the map more that way.
-
Good edit. Probably received much more favorable responses after it.:)
-
When I see a bunch of chumps ruining my Farm Circle I just leap in front of them and re-steal the lead. That way I still get the chests first and hopefully they disappear by the time the chumps arrive in my spots .

Here's sum cheese to go with that wine. Merry Nondenominational holiday season gift lmfao

Good news you can buy a 20 stack of any material now from the vangaurd or crucible masters for 10 marks.
-
yea I usually join the person if they're there first unless they're doing it wrong
-
I used to do regular farming runs until i found out where the war zones are on earth venus and mars and now i just hang around those till all hell breaks loose. Most fun in destiny for me. Don't need very much material at the moment.

I find that most materials/chests respawn pretty darn quick to generally serve different farming methods. Yes, there are some smaller areas where this could be a problem. Players completing missions or patrols may not want to fall in line and follow a group. Some solos would rather do their own farming at their own pace and own way. Really, the only ones that bother me a little are the speed farmers that literally run through all the chest locations without firing a single shot. They are definitely in it for themselves. When I see speed farming taking place, I just head to a different location or go to orbit and come back. Just running and following a group for chests would be very boring to me. After returning from orbit, I never run into the same group. If I know a fellow guardian is nearby, I will try and wait a few seconds and point to a chest,. In reality, few guardians respond anyway. I have begun to avoid the shooting technique, because I find it more often than not just scares a player away or results in them shooting back.

Edited by MOOSAPOLUZA: 11/29/2014 7:06:22 PMIf i join a planet i have my own route as ive found that most dont know all the spots on most planets and the will skip a few spots and get ahead of me without waiting for me. And of course, they dont enter team chat

I don't watch YouTube to learn farm runs, I know the ones I know and I use them.
-
I'm really angry and I didn't read the edits! Rawr!
-
One tip that the others probably missed; if you go to the next named area on a planet then come back. When you come back, you'll be in a different instance and the farm runners will be gone. ~cheers
-
I'll help you farm. I'll give you all the mats. I'll give you all my exotics. Shit, I'll suck your dick. I don't care.
-
When that happens to me, i see where they're at then go just ahead of them.
-
If you go clockwise you're doing it wrong and I will dance in all your loot caves
-
The whole game world doesn't revolve around u...
-
I don't care if I screw up your farming run. Since these are the people that boot me, and keep me out of the raid. The people that make my game less fun. I care less. I will now go out of my way to mess up farming runs.
Nah, I won't go out of my way to do that
If you're really that desperate to farm mats with no one around. Change your system time and do it that way. Unless they patched it, no one else is around and you have the world to yourself. Also good if the gunsmith is selling blue fusion rifles on a particular day. Usually you can time travel and pick a few up. Last time I did that though I had connection probs after about 30 mins.

Farming materials should not be a competition against greedy randoms. Deej mentioned something about changes to material systems I hope that enemies dropping them becomes a thing because then that means they can make chests rarer and actually give them better rewards.
-
It says something about the "mmo" experience of the community that so many people got confused by "mats". People doing patrols aren't going to farm in your order, they're going to farm where the patrol takes them.
