Hi guardians!
So every week Xur the tentacle faced weirdo appears for us to spend our Strange coins on. And every week another group of people gets a massive pain in the behind because their favorite weapon has suddenly become flavor of the week as it is bought (and used) by almost every guardian around.
I got The Last Word only a week or so ago and i completely love that gun, so when i noticed that Xur sells it this week, my first reaction was: "Well -blam!-, now I'm not special anymore". And when i noticed how many people where crying about it here on the forums, something came to my mind.
Why are exotics even being sold, even if only 2 days a week?
Be honest, getting an exotic is cool and all, but knowing it will be for sale within a week or two (that's usually my luck) takes the shine out of it. I would much rather have Xur sell us something else, something Xur exclusive for example. At this point i am happier to get a raid unique purple weapon, than getting any exotic. Just because i got them from doing specific content, the only place they drop (vision of Confluence in this case).
So how do you feel guardians? Should Xur sell Exotics, yes or no?
tl;dr: Exotics aren't exotic if you can buy em, should Xur stop selling exotics?

Update 1: It's pretty cool to see the different opinions here, most of you think he should keep selling exotics, though quite a few of you do seem to feel exotics aren't as exotic as they should be. I wonder if, and how, they would ever change that.

It gives people a chance against the RNG gods. Also, stuff I buy from him is usually not as powerful as ones I get in drops that are the same item.
-
1 ReplyIf he didn't sell exotics what would he sell?
-
2 RepliesIf I was DeeJ and heard all the complaining about xur I would remove exotic drops from the game entirely and make the only way to get exotics... Buying them from xur.
-
He should still sell exotics but the cost should be ridiculously over priced.
-
lol. So many formerly unique snowflakes shedding tears of the newly common... "I got a lucky a drop, anyone who doesn't get their guns through lucky drops are basically cheaters!"
-
To give strange coins and the weekly strikes purpose and don't do for things for rare engrams
-
Exotics are exotics. Enough already.
-
Stop.

This thread again.....

1 ReplyYes but they're extremely underpriced currently. This makes them too easy to get. If they were priced appropriately I doubt we'd see so many butthurt posts on here.
-
I think the exotic items from xur should only change once a month .
-
I believe Bungie should let Xur sell exotic weapons and armor, mainly because of the people that like/love this game but dont have that much time to express it by playing.
-
Not weapons but armor is fine with me
-
6 RepliesThis question is asked like every week Xur comes out. Who the $@"& cares anymore.
-
i said last week he should sell raid gear or gear that cant get you to level 30 for 2-3 times the exotic price..
-
4 RepliesHe should sell them. Because they are hard to get. However, 23 coins is way to nerf of a price. Guns sell by xur should be at least 60-70, so if you really want a gun you'd better save up.
-
5 RepliesThe ones he sells and ones you earn should have some changes in the appearance of the gun
-
2 RepliesWant a gun that barely no one has? Do the hard raid and get fatebringer or praedyths timepeice or praetorian foil or ultimately the vex mythoclast
-
1 ReplyHe is necessary to balance out the RNG.
-
There needs to be a larger pool of exotics, and Xur should be limited to Exotic engrams and some legendary alternatives - http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/77499881/0/0

9 RepliesI am thinking from some time about what Xur is selling and how random it is. It seems to me that it is not random at all. He usually sells the items that are most desired at the moment. Think about SUROS Regime. It was the single most wanted gun. How it is now? It is the most common AR in the game, 9 of 10 AR users I see are using it. Do they feel special? Probably not, because everyone else have the gun. Then people wanted the Ice breaker and guess what … and then it was P&T and so on and so on… I was absolutely sure that this week it was time for TLW give away because it was the most wanted gun at the moment. Then it will be the next most desired and so on. Why? Well I think that the reason is quite obvious. They inflate the Exotics that way. A new DLC is coming out in weeks and it has a new weapons and armor in it. Usually in games when an expansion is coming it gives you more powerful weapons and armor and you just need to acquire the new ones to be competitive. In Destiny that is not the case so Xur is the solution. He sells everything “Exotic” to everyone and we need to grind for a new “Exotics” to feel special again and meanwhile he gives new toys to the masses to keep them in game for a week or two. For us guys it is a game but for them is business I may be wrong but it is just what I think. P.S. Sorry if I have any mistakes English is not my first language.

Just give up already.

13 RepliesNot everyone has the time to do the raid or farm every day to get exotics. The weekly and xur solve the problem for some guradians. Everyone should get to experience the feeling of a yellow explosion on their screen as they get a super awesome and good weapon. Shame on you and everyone else who has a complex about being a special snowflake.

4 RepliesEdited by Swole_Monkey: 11/14/2014 12:07:48 PMHawkmoon and Monte Carlo will be the only Exotics left because Xur can't sell them and they are not on a loot table for the Raid, Iron Banner, Queens Wrath etc.
-
4 RepliesYeah, when I solo the nightfall strike and get 9 strange coins, I demand that he sells exotics :)
-
4 RepliesNO. There should be a reward system for people putting in the hours, people should work hard for their exotics, not RNG or Xur. At the very least strange coins shouldnt be able to be swapped between characters
