So, if my best K/D in the crucible is 1.0 so far, is there any chance of me completing this bounty or should I just ditch it? I don't want to waste the slot, time or effort if it's not going to be possible...

I finished it in only 3 or so games of crucible and each time I got 0.96 k/d in one game. Don't worry, you are doing fine.
