Inconsistent Damage with The Last Word

In this video you can clearly see that I scope in, fire 4 shots, and kill the target. The three crits that display hit for 77, **101**, and 77 (the first 3 of the 4 shots, I think). If you're not sure, open the video [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWDrowCaK0Y#t=118]normally[/url] on youtube and set the playback speed to 0.25.
The Last Word I'm using does not have any sporadic damage bonuses that I'm aware of (see [url=http://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/1/4611686018431332326/2305843009222120843#gear]here[/url]).
This happens for me probably 2-3 times a game. I appreciate the extra damage, but something just doesn't look right to me.
Bungie, what gives?

I would assume the issue isn't an issue per se being the gun is meant to be hip fired for increased damage at closer ranges. And the range on it us very small range gives your gun max damage when you reach the designated range for the weapon any thing out side the range is not as effective could be you were walking in on him outside your range limit doing 77 got close enough for 101 and he was back peddling exceeding your max range again. I'm not 100% sure this is the case I'll have to watch the vid more closely after work.
