Im 29 turning 30 in Feb and I feel like im too old to be playing, I have a wife and 2 kids in which I spend quality time with and work 6-7 days a week usually.
I play Destiny whenever I find the time to do so but lately I keep getting invited to do VOG (I still havent done it yet) and the other 5 fire team peeps are like screaming 12-13 year olds and that is also the reason I refuse to use a mic.
Tbh, I feel embarrassed because these people are young and being the only adult just makes me feel uneasy, like if I used a mic and spoke they will probably give me shit about my age and some of the people wont let me come do VOG unless I use a mic anyways.
It was like when I played mw2 when it came out and the lobbies filled up with screaming trash talking kids and it spread like a cancer so I quit and haven't touched a CoD game since lol. I bought the game to enjoy it,not to listen to kids yell at each other going on about being molested by their dad or gay this and gay that.
I just dont know what to do? I think I might just stay at level 29, any other adults here that feel like they can somewhat relate to this?
[EDIT] So much positive feedback, I was not expecting so many replies and you can believe me when I write that I have read every single comment in this thread and it warms the heart knowing just how many others are just like me.
Thank you so much everybody.
Oh and I noticed a few people asking what console im on, im on the PS4 and I will be sure to check out the mature clans out there that were suggested.

I'm older than you. Play this for stress relief. I'd bet you probably do the same thing. Nothing wrong with it. There are some kids that play that are decent, but as you know, age does not have anything to do with maturity. Neither does level or grim cards. I have witnessed both.

If you need someone to help I would be more than willing most of my buddies and i are in our mid 20's I've got a kid so I tend to be quiet unless needed to speak so as not to wake her up. So I know the struggle when it comes to squeakers.

Nah age doesn't matter. We think 'old people don't game' but they just didn't spend a large portion of their lives playing. Or at least not at home. So they never got into it like we did. Now kids will grow up with parents who game, with no second thought about them being too old. And who knows, that could actually help close the generational gap some, between adults and kids.

I m 49..and still playing on a daily basis. I like the game very much. ...dont let age slow u down. Lets play n enjoy the game....Cheers Guardian.

There is a group for dads. Really the only group I use. That way I can play with people my age lol. I don't enjoy playing with kids mainly because the Marine Corps ruined my ability to watch my mouth.

At 60yrs old, and a daily Destiny player, I'm just not sure what to say to someone half my age that thinks they are too old to play a video game....?
-
I'm 53 and have friends of all ages, my nephew plays so I get to have fun with him even though he lives 300 miles away. I'm still learning, one great thing about the Destiny community is how people help each other out in random ways. See someone overwhelmed by enemies? Go and help. Find a loot box? Look around for someone to share it with and so on. I know of players in their 70's us oldies might be slower but we have patience and determination. You are only too old if you want to be otherwise keep playing.
-
I'm 32 and still live playing video games. I don't play with immature people. You should make friends on the same wave length as u.
-
Most fire teams I get into are 25-35 year olds. If there kids I just leave.
-
Tbh there's plenty and plenty of people your age playing, and plenty a lot older as well. You just need to find yourself some people that are age appropriate to play with.

Edited by Joey 14: 2/21/2015 1:18:24 PMI'm 45 and can hold my own in any aspect of the game.

Edited by C4 YoloWolf: 2/21/2015 12:49:19 PMI met a 70 year old gamer yesterday and adopted him from there on.. Now that's insane.

im 42, haha i dont care but i agree i dont like squeakers but i just mute if need be. i just enjoy the experience.
-
I think theres more adults on Destiny than 11-12 year olds, actually. But a lot of kids got Destiny for Christmas and are giving VoG a go while they cant do Crota yet.
-
If you enjoy the game play it, I'm 41 and haven't played video games in over a decade, until my wife of 13 years and my 11yo daughter bought me a ps4 in Nov for my b-day. It has become a great way to unwind after work. I just ranked to 32 yesterday with the help of some cool people along the way. You'll find your fireteam guardian. Keep playing.

I'm almost 40, and most of the people I play with are of a similar age. Find a good clan and don't join raids filled with randoms. You are welcome to join us anytime, just send me a friends request. GT: dafunks-fux0r

I'm 29 this year and got responsibilities too (long term girlfriend who I can't afford to get married too and a 9 year old son) Haven't been able to play properly for weeks as I've been drinking while getting creative in the kitchen, which is a lot less boring than you might think. I feel slightly odd playing this game too sometimes, it's great don't get me wrong, but my tastes in gaming have started to change dramatically over the years. I can't get immersed like I used to and Destiny in particular is the only game I've played where I've fallen asleep while on patrol Just waiting for Metal Gear and Bloodborne as they're my types of games, I think after that I'll put gaming down for a few years and focus on bettering my life even more
