I was reading through the Bungie Weekly Update, and one thing caught my eye.
There should be no single answer for how to win in Destiny.
In this case it was related to weapons, but what Bungie seems to be ignoring, is how it relates to abilities.
I have around 10 VoG normal/hard raids behind me between my 2 characters, and what I've noticed is that nobody plays warlock with anything other than Sunsinger + Fireborn. This is coming from a group that usually has at least 3-4 warlocks.
I've never seen a Voidwalker in VoG, or even a Sunsinger with Radiant skin or Song of flame. And I'm not even blaming the warlocks, I think the peer pressure for picking Fireborn is just too great.
If you make a mistake and die (and perhaps wipe the raid)while having anything but Fireborn, you get bombed with questions about why the hell did you not pick fireborn.
This is even a bigger issue on hard mode, where dying has more dire consequences.
So i have a few questions for the community, do you also feel this is a problem? And do you see a solution for this?
My initial ideas were that Fireborn would only revive you for something like 30 seconds, where you could perhaps still make out with the relic, or defend that control point, but it wouldn't be a mandatory ability anymore.

I always use voidwalker.

1 ReplyNothing better to cry about Next it will be Titan bubbles or hunters going invisible to run the sword on crota. Really who cares just play the game
-
Yea i made a thread about alterntatives once. Would be cool if: Song of flame lasted longer for your allies and stuck to them once you activated it instead of them havign to stand very close. Radiant skin burns enemies in proximity. Basically makes youa human solar flare. That, or you apply the burn effect to people who get too close.
-
I only use fireborn on nightfalls without a void burn. Voidwalker is just too fun to give up, especially with Obsidian Mind.
-
Well i dont know how your going to nerf it, an theyre not going to remove it so...

Edited by SLATE: 2/8/2015 10:08:17 PMDid entire VoG hard mode about 30 min ago using only Voidwalker. I also never use fireborn on Crota because you should not be dying on Crota anyways because of Oversoul. Only time I use Fireborn is for the bridge on Crota (if we're cheesing) and rarely during The Abyss...on strikes I'm usually using Voidwalker. Nightfalls I may use Fireborn if deaths occur often. My thing is this...there are so many ways to avoid dying, I don't see a point in using Fireborn. ESPECIALLY when there are a plethora of other skills I can use to help either my teammates, or myself.

I would run sunsinger w/out fireborn in pvp if they didn't have the slowest jump in the game
-
I think you hit it right ob the spot on this one. I myself use fireborn a lot and im glad to say that it has gotten me out of big situations. Gotta love sunsingers
-
Pvp is full of voidwalkers
-
I use Fireborn where death is a serious detriment, hard raids, Nightfall. I like using it when I run my warlock through the lamp section of CE because I'm the idiot that always manages to find a hole but I think I'm going to start running it with Voidwalker for the Novabomb now that I've started to figure out where the holes are.
-
1 ReplyI have no problem running VOG on my Hunter. Radiance isn't a must. In Crota it is actually discouraged cause if you die you summon the over soul
-
2 RepliesEver played Crotas end? No? Well sunsinger (now that the cheeses are patched) has little to no point there
-
I don't see how that's "overpowered" but I rarely use Fireborn in VoG. VoidWalker is way better for clearing minotaurs plus with bad juju and obsidian mind it becomes nova spam.
-
10 raid completions? Uh oh We've gotta badass over here
-
Mate you need a lot more clears before you judge people and how they use it, also it is the best for that situation void walker rule the Crota raid and self res is almost useless in pvp tbh
-
My friend uses voidwalker all the time And when using sunsinger he uses radiant skin
-
The only place the self res is really great is in VoG, hard mode. Pretty much everywhere else, it's better to go with the damage reduction or Voidwalker. One of the only reasons I use Sunsinger anymore is because of how much I love the Heart of Praxic Fire. I see locks using all sorts of things, other than self res.
-
You clearly need to expand your friends list.
-
I'm almost exclusive to Voidwalker
-
I rock the voidwalker and radiant skin sunsinger all the time. Last time I did the vault it was as a voidwalker.
-
I agree, being a warlock myself I understand the pressure of picking fire born despite how boring it is
-
5 RepliesThe problem for me is that nearly the entire SunSinger tree is just plain borring, but the safety net of a self revive is very strong. If you run sunsinger without rez, you are gimping yourself. However the backlash they would get if they changed it would be extreme. Personaly i cant stand to run SS much, more so with the OM helm, big explosions big success.
-
Hunters can go invisible, titans have their bubble, warlock has self revive. They can't hide so they self revive.
-
I've always been intrigued with the Sunsinger class and really tried to make it work for me but Voidwalker is the obvious choice
-
Radiant skin is a pvp monster. Fireborn is dumb in the. Crucible
