The guns weren't behaving as Bungie designed them, so they tweaked them. It's pretty simple really. Auto Rifles take less skill than a Scout or Pulse, and yet they were wrecking on everything. Got a shotgun? Just run straight at your enemy, firing wildly, and you will kill them. See? Unbalanced. Hence the balancing. And to bring back an old favourite from Reach; ADAPT.

  • You're the 10th or so person I have seen talking about skill. Someone without skill will be worse at shooting or killing you than a person with skill whether it's a vex or a scout rifle or an auto rifle. Guns don't kill people. People do. NERF good players if you want to truly balance things.

  • your bad. Mad because you shotgun and auto-rifle don't guarantee you free wins in crucible anymore?

  • Maybe I'd be mad if I played pvp. I should have definitely played pre patch if I knew kills were guaranteed with those weapons!

  • You say - "Got a shotgun? Just run straight at your enemy, firing wildly, and you will kill them." How does that work for you on a high lvl nightfall or weekly heroic strike or raid on anything besides a lone trash mob? Shotguns got nerfed in PVE. You think they were not working as intended in high level PVE and were too strong before? Not everyone who is dissatisfied with the hotfix wants easy mode - some are dissatisfied because bungie made questionable decisions on certain balances that carried over to PVE that were not needed. Btw my main weapon even before the hotfix was a scout rifle. I'm not looking for easy mode. I just don't like to see balances applied incorrectly to the PVE side of the game that were never needed there just because something was imbalanced in PVP. I think that is what the main topic is stating also.. taking about it being ok to balance certain things to crucible only.

  • Scout rifles are to easy for me to get a kill with I have the cryptic Dragon that I bought from the crucible guy and the explosive damage just dominates players... And also I'm pretty sure it takes plenty of skill to sit in one area for a long period of time and wait to get a kill or be killed

  • Lofl scout rifles are harder to use than auto rifles you sir are a idiot. how Is it harder to use a gun that had better range recoil and impact than a auto rifle that has low impact and lower everything else usually than scout. It takes much more skill to have to keep aim on a moving target while firing at rapid rate of fire accurately enough to kill is very hard. Sorry your not skilled enough for auto rifle and cried for a patch it's really that simple.

  • auto-rifle is the easiest weapon to use tho. "automatic guns are so hard to use. It's so hard to point it at someone and pull the trigger button. Auto-rifles, shotguns, and rockets take the most skill." ROFL you're bad.

  • Ha I didn't cry for a patch. I frankly didn't care about the weapon balance. Using any semi-auto weapon takes more skill than a full-auto pay and spray weapon. If you really think that one rifle should utterly dominate in Crucible over the other 3 primary weapons then you don't understand weapon balance. All that has happened with the patch is balancing. This has happened for all Bungie games since Halo 2, Bungie always release a patch that fixes problems that they couldn't forsee; Halo 2 had BR spread issues, Halo 3 has BR issues and melee issues, Reach has bloom and bleedthrough issues. I will now probably finally drop my Shingen and start levelling my legendary Scout Rifle. And please don't claim I'm not skilled. You stats are terrible.

  • I read the hotfix, that was just possibly 3 to 4 guns that had issues on what they can do. The real point in here is the other guns without issues were affected on the PVE side. So the weapons have been weakened, made more unstable, and decreased its range which will eventually impact the PVE side by making more than a mag of an auto rifle to kill a minotaur or basically 3/4 of a mag. ex. I know many people also think this is true also, Vex mythoclast, if you have one, comes with a small amount of ammo it can carry and it is an exotic from Vault of Glass Hard which means it should be worth the effort on getting, but it is not anymore for its damage that use to take down a pterion level 30 or 28 with a void shield maybe took half the magazine to kill which meant you can kill about 8 including the other vex. Now it takes about 1 and a half magazine to kill which means you can only kill 3 pterions before you run out of ammo if you used the rest to kill vex and hobgoblins. You see balancing PVP I am okay with, but the issue is they(PVP community) are affecting our guns and eventually our actual subclasses if they keep complaining.

  • I actually agree with you. It's a real shame that because of PvP issues the weapons have been balanced and that affects PvE as well. I don't see a way around that though, Bungie want the game to be consistent across all game modes...... so to change weapon balance for PvP can't just be for PvP. Otherwise we have fragmentation and an inconsistent experience. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of situation.

  • PvE isn't a game mode. PvE is the game itself, Titanfall fell apart so easily because it was all multiplayer and lacked so much content. Bungie needs to focus on the game and not people whining about a gun they're too lazy to go and get. Destiny is an MMO and in any solid MMO, PvE and PvP can be solely played one or the other without affecting each other. Yet every once in a while there's a weapon attained in PvE that is useful in PvP and then people will whine and complain about it, so it gets fixed. Bungie didn't fix the gun, they made it pointless to get unless you like the way it looks(like a water gun). If Bungie said; "Too many people are getting Recon armor in Halo 3 through modding achievements." Then made it so if you wanted to wear it it could only be in custom games and it had to be green, then so many people would stop using it and rage because the only reason they wanted it was for looks and to flash off their achievements. My point is the Vex Mythoclast was what most people wanted because it was such an amazing gun, maybe too amazing, then tweak it, don't make it complete crap. A 21 round magazine with increased accuracy and range(still not enough) is bad. A 56 round magazine with awful range and accuracy is just as bad, if not worse... everything about the gun is now inferior to the Suros Regime, and anyone using a Shadow Price can beat a Vex user even if they don't get the first shot off. Shotguns need to be addressed before the VM; and if you think Bungie fixed shotguns, you're oblivious to the PvP experience right now. What's worse about shotguns is everyone has them, and everyone can learn to slide or teleport and shoot. You can even get an automatic shotgun if you're that lazy... as long as people are running around one shotting with a super, a shotgun, a sniper, a rocket, grenades, or even a knife... why on earth can't someone who put a ridiculous amount of effort and time into one raid 4/5 shot someone with a weapon they were lucky enough to get? If that's so bad, then tweak it just a bit and don't kill it's stats and reputation as the best gun in the game.
