I have played a lot of Destiny over the last month, I love it, and will be playing for a long time yet. I've fine tuned my Strike attacks with friends, learnt every crucible map, mastered every Story mode, and become well acquainted with the Raid. I love jumping online for the Daily Story, smashing out a few bounties with friends, and tackling PvP for some crucible marks. The weekly challenges are a highlight, everyone seems to be online Tuesday night to dissect the Nightfall, and clean up coins with the heroic. The thing is, I am an exception; in that I forgive Destiny's flaws. I see past the problems and try to focus on only the positive while playing. I encourage all to do this while playing any game, but this does not mean these flaws should go unnoticed. So now, after 300 hours play time, I give you my list of ideas that I believe, after discussion with many of the community, most people will agree will only improve the game. I've tried to avoid bugs, as they will surely be fixed in due time. Please select in Poll which point you agree with most, or leave comments if you disagree with any. We all want Destiny to be a better game, lets not have meaningless arguments, but try and give some constructive criticism and hope that Bungie hears us. To avoid crashing Bungie.net skip able cut scenes will not be in poll. Comments will suffice. 1. Explanation of end game goals. It seems a majority of players simply had no idea what to do after finishing the story. I know that I wanted to level my light to reach Raid level, and I figured I needed to increase my Reputation in the stores to buy legendary gear. But not everyone understood this. That is why people shoot at a cave, there was no clear objective. A proper introduction to the factions, vanguard store, and the huge role that bounties play in levelling these guys up, would give players direction after level 20. 2. In game grimoire. All this would take is an interactive bookcase in the Speakers room or simply a tab in the menu. I understand you would like traffic on the web page, but the fiction on these cards needs to get out there to the people demanding story. It is all beautifully written an entirely wasted. 3. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already? 4. Rewards for Story Missions on higher difficulties. I've heard a few ideas for this. The simplest one is a one off reward for competing each story mission, and that reward increases the higher the difficulty. Another is a Story Mission playlist that would select a mission at random, add modifiers, and rewards players on completion similar to Strike Playlist. When I finished the game I was delighted to see I could replay each mission on 20 26 28 etc. but then immediately let down by the fact that there was simply no point. Most people feel the end game content is slim, but with 20 mission and all these modifiers surely you could work something out. 5. Crucible Rewards Everyone knows this one too well. Bad players being rewarded great gear is infuriating. I would typically play PvP exclusively on any other game. I am decent, and enjoy the crucible, but that constant slap in the face when a bad players get the best rewards has me visiting the crucible less and less. The current loot system discourages good players, and a few of my friends have stopped playing because of this. I'm not sure if there is an easy fix, but I like the idea of point based loot drop, that carries over game to game, like this http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/72653379/0/0. Loot drops every 2500 points, if you only get 1500 you can get 1000 points next round and get a drop. Everyone gets loot, everyone progresses, but good players feel rewarded. 6. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already? 7. Another way to obtain materials. *EDIT - implemented!* Collecting upgrade materials is boring. Really boring. Like taking out the trash, or washing dishes, it is an actual chore when you need 72 Helium filaments for that new chest piece. Why is there no fun but difficult way to obtain this? Maybe implemented into the bounty system or as rewards for the Story missions on high difficulties (Which would improve 2 problems at once). If I could select a mission on, say, level 26, then every modifier I put on increased the materials I received after completion, I would be so happy. 8. Bounty Improvements. Small changes would make a big difference here. I think I've only seen about 20 vanguard bounties plus Targets and maybe 25 Crucible bounties. If I have to get Double kills with the fusion rifle one more time, I think I'm going to turn it on myself. Have somebody make more bounties, like complete a mission with only shotguns, get 3 melee kills in crucible without dying or get 3 headshots in 3 seconds 3 times in 3 minutes. Planet specific bounties could reward materials, like Kill 200 enemies on Earth for Spinmetal reward. These are just off the top of my head, but bounties are what most players are doing daily, put some effort into making them fun. 9. Companion app > Destiny integration. I cannot see my new Xbox One friends on Bungie.com friends list or in the App. This makes it more difficult than it should be to add members to the small group that I run, and also makes all leader board statistics redundant, as I can only compare with small selection of my friends from Xbox 360. I'm sure this will be fixed eventually, but it has been an ongoing problem since I bought my Xbox One. 10. Skip able cut scenes. Why can I not skip the cut scene I have viewed 10 times already? 11. Explanations for game mechanics. I played the weekly this week (Oct 12th) with a friend who has been playing since launch, but not nearly as much of me. When he joined I pointed out that Void Damage Modifier was on, to which he replied "What is that?". I explained about modifiers and what they do, he was thankful, but then said, "I was actually asking about Void Damage, what is that?". Now this person had been playing the game for about 40 hours, and he is not an idiot, it is just that nowhere throughout the game had it been explained what the damage types are, or that shield colour is effected by same colour damage type. There are other important game mechanics that just seem to be in the game, but never explained. I didn't really mind in the beginning, because I enjoyed learning how everything worked, but I've explained that exact mechanic so many times that I feel like I should be on the Bungie pay role. There is a lot of depth in Destiny, and it requires more explanation. 12. Skip able cut scenes. Getting old yet? So are the cut scenes. Thank You for taking the time to read, please comment, and select option in the poll, I would really like to hear what people think, and hopefully Bungie will hear us too. Edit- It looks like some more interesting bounties are on the way with the DLC, along with extra bounty slots. Edit- Also a lot of the cut scenes can be skipped by going to orbit during 30 second count down after mission, you still get rewards, but a simple 'press x to skip' has been around for a decade, please add this. Edit- The latest patch (Dec 1st) added other ways to get upgrade materials! You can now purchase from the quartermasters (fair price-20 material for 10 marks), patrol bounties give 10, and daily mission on lvl 28 gives 16. This removes what most people would agree is the most boring part of Destiny- the material farm. This is far better than a forum response, thank you for listening to the community Bungie, how about knocking a few more things off this list?

    • As for feedback, I can't fathom why bounties don't contain large amounts of lore. For a game that touts an incredible story, the story is almost non-existent outside of the cards, which are earned by doing things in game. The problem is that there is no direction on what I should be doing to earn these cards of lore. Having bounties that point you to the in game lore would be the best improvement for me. I might even be inclined to play in the crucible like I have to in some of the exotic bounties if they were part of a multi party bounty that told a good story.

    • I have played Destiny about as much as you have (the difference in play time on Bungie.net for our profiles is less than 10 hours), and I agree with all of your suggestions except for one. I respectfully disagree with changing the Crucible rewards. Let me be clear about my bias here: I absolutely suck at the Crucible. I am that guy at the bottom of the score board at the end of the match. If I did not need Crucible reputation and marks to get some of the gear that I want, I would never play the Crucible. The problem with rewarding skilled play is that it effectively punishes everyone who is not skilled. First of all, that guy at the bottom has invested as much time and put as much effort into the match as you have. I am not bad at PvP because I want to be. Maybe it's inexperience (Destiny is the first FPS I have played competitively for more than an hour), age (I'm over 40), or just because I'm bad at video games (which I have been playing for over 35 years); but no matter how hard I try, I still suck. I have gotten a little better as I learn more about the intricacies of this game, but I am still bad. Next, being skilled at the Crucible is its own reward. The rewards that skilled players get from a Crucible match include: the satisfaction of stomping my face into the dirt over and over again; increased chance of winning the match and getting more Crucible reputation and marks; recognition of your achievement by having you name at the top of score board at the end of the match. The only "reward" I get for playing the Crucible is that I get some progress towards my Crucible reputation and marks even when I lose, and I have the same chance of getting a post-game reward as everyone else. Finally, skilled players in the Crucible already have a higher chance of getting good rewards. You play more Crucible because you are good. When you play more, you get more chances to get good drops. As soon as I get enough matches in the Crucible to fulfil my "participant" bounties, I am out of there to spend time on activities I actually enjoy. If you play 4 times as many Crucible matches as I do, then you are 4 times as likely to get good rewards. If you want to improve the Crucible, Bungie should improve matchmaking. If all of the good players only played with other good players, and those of us who are crap played with other crappy players, everyone would be happier. I always seem to be teamed up with players who are far better than I am. I looked at the stats of the players in one of my Crucible matches. The highest combat rating of my opponents was 137.98, the lowest was 75.89, and the median was 93.82. My combat rating was 38.50. I was playing out of my league. I look forward to all of the abuse I will receive from this reply.

      • Not gonna read it, you kept throwing in our face at the begining you played for 300 hours. So I figured I'd look to see this acomplishment and your short about 94 hours. If your gonna lie and bullshit us at the begining of your post, nothing you say is worth reading.

Thank You for taking the time to read, please comment, and select option in the poll, I would really like to hear what people think, and hopefully Bungie will hear us too.
So I've been playing this game since launch (mainly because there's nothing out at the minute that I feel like playing) and while as a concept this game kicks butt the execution is shocking! What happened Bungie? Did Activision bully you that much that you caved to all their demands? Things that I'd change hmmmm. Well let's start with the fact that there's no in game grimoire! And seriously whys the actual point in finding the dead ghosts other than reading up on lore. Don't get me wrong I like finding out things but to be told I have to go to the "official" website is just obnoxious! 2. BOSS DROPS! Seriously who ever had the idea of making a bullet sponge boss NOT drop anything shouldn't just be fired they should be fired out of a cannon! 3. MORE DIVERSE WEAPONS! How many years in the future is this game set and we're still using bullet fed weapons? That's right we've managed to terraform worlds but were going to stick with combustion weapons? Also why not have the option of picking up alien weaponry? While I'm talking about weapons lets get on to my biggest gripe. The ships. What's the actual point in the ships other than going from point A to point B? And if that's all they're for why make them flashy AND WITH WEAPONS!?! That's right were flying round in pretty cool looking ships with vast arrays of weapons AND CANT USE THEM! Also MORE EXOTIC WEAPONS! What did they get bored or have a brain fart after they'd created the 12-15 exotics there are? 4. If you're going to give us space ships and not let us pilot them atleast let us customise them! 5. Let us alter our physical appearance. I get that the game is maybe going for a little bit of continuity but they've fallen short on that so we SHOULD be allowed to customise our characters post creation. 6. MORE DIVERSE MISSIONS! Pretty self explanatory. 7. MORE LOCATIONS! Again pretty self explanatory. 8. More skins. 9. Better PvP matchmaking. 10. SKIPPABLE CUTSCENES! There's only so much of the dinklebot I can stomach before I want to peel my face off! 11. More NPC Interactivity. Like story progression or tasks or just general in game gossip. 12. An in game notice board with up coming patches, bug fixes and events so we don't have to use the "official" site. 13. MORE STORY! "I could tell you about the great battle" WELL TELL ME ABOUT IT YOU LOVE CHILD FROM THE WIZARD OF OZ! The fact that that was actually put in the game is just dumb. I don't mean the "haha yeah I'm a doughnut" kindve dumb. I mean the kindve dumb where you jam a fork in a live socket to get something loose dumb. I want to know what Rasputin is and that random robot ally we've encountered is.

          • Honestly thought it was just gonna be another troll post. The title caught my attention and when actual time playing didn't match what you were saying, wasn't gonna waste my time on another large post that was garbage. I apologize I assumed it was just another troll post. Now that I read it. Solid stuff, but... number 1: the story sends you to your vanguard class vendor multiple times and it's Bungie's fault that people don't look at the armor and the big ass circle that has your rank and progression on it? First time I went to the tower I went to all the vendors to see what there was. Not like any of that is hidden. I just don't see why this is a problem. Number 11: there are shielded mobs throughout the fame leveling to 20. You start getting special and heavy weapons that have these colors on them next to the attack. You open it up and it says what damage it does so you know that the purple swirly thing means the weapon does void damage. So you got three different elements on the weapons you can have. There are three different colored shields on mobs throughout the game. Common sense kicked in and I matched those colors and omg it does more damage. Don't see the issue with that. I guess they can put in something for the huge player base of illiterate color blind people lol. Joking aside, why is this a problem?

The one thing that i would like to see changed before anything else, is the depressing reward system for the vault of glass. I have now completed the vog at least once of each of the last five weeks, and i am yet to recieve any raid armor. Come on Bungie, your game is good enough, you shouldn't be resorting to such shitty tactics to keep people playing.

                    • Well thought out set of ideas mate, without a hint of over the top Bungie bashing. I particularly like the ideas for the bounties, rewarding upgrade materials is a great idea. To me bounties hold the key to some quick wins in gameplay improvements, as you said more variety but also for more bounties like the exotic ones, with multiples goals across multiple modes. Good post, well done

                      • Definitely hit the nail on the head. I started playing this game at launch (similar to your friend) and last night was the first time I finished the raid. Needless to say, my part in it was a disaster. I knew the first couple of fights, but after the second boss, I was completely lost while people were yelling over each other what the strategy should be and getting frustrated with me and others because we didn't "know the fight" even after we explained that this was our first go 'round. The frustrating part for me was not knowing and unlike the most games where adventuring/exploration was encouraged it turned into a sit and "hope I don't screw up more". Explanation of the end game is definitely needed along with a little less steep learning curve for those who are new into the foray of end game content - at least at the raid level. I do enjoy the game (being a veteran of MMOs for 19 years now), but I don't want to find myself grinding away faction, hitting a max and then grinding away anyway when I could be doing so much more with the right information. With that said, I don't want to have to watch 4 hours of YouTube videos on how to beat a boss, because to me that's not playing the game, that's studying for an exam.

While I do agree with you on most things. I have to disagree with the first one, saying we need a list of clear set goals after lvl 20, so people don't get confused. We must remember that this is an "MMO" as bungie like to think so. I have never played an MMO that tell you everything you need to do after hitting "lvl cap" It's up to you to figure out what is going on, net work with people, research on google and YouTube. It's what I and many others I know had to do, and it's not that hard. It's suppose to be, on a large scale, a social game. Every time I don't know how to do something (which isn't often anymore, since I'm practically max light level) I would ask my friend who was a lvl 28 at the time and he would help me with everything. It's not hard to network with people and make friends, I've made a ton of friends by just randomly messaging people about items they had or finding people for the vault....people are just extremely lazy and want Bungie to hold their hand. I'm glad Bungie allows us to figure out things on our own and have to network with people. It feels very mysterious and is much more rewarding in the end. Just my 2 cents.

                          • Your idea for "bounties for materials" is bang on the money mate!! We REALLY need a change to that, especially since some are harder to obtain...Relic Iron for instance, is NOT easy to find in comparison to, Spirit Bloom or Helium which is EVERYWHERE on Venus and the Moon. The only thing with your bounty idea is, how much would we be getting per bounty, and how often would these bounties appear? I could certainly see a problem where people do these bounties solely for trading them with vendors for marks and rep. Bungie may frown upon that - even though I think its great! Especially for those players who want to buy items from vendors for crucible marks, without having to play PVP. I mean, this game was geared around PVE not the other way around! PVP was an extra thrown in there, so I don't know why they make it so hard to rank up the crucible vendor. And same for the grimoire card idea, how you actually have to leave the game to read that stuff is beyond me! What brilliant genius came up with that idea?! Good lord!! Great all around post mate, keep it up.

                              • Just wanted to do a shout out to Obiwan for putting together such a well thought out post on improvements for the game and to compliment the people who are posting their ideas. If you want good changes made to the game this is the way you need to do it. Again, I saw what Gazillion did with Marvel Superheroes with listening to user feedback and I have no doubt Bungie can do the same with this game. Keep posting your ideas and suggestions and let us keep this post front and center for Bungie.

                                • I'm glad someone else had a similar mindset, even if mine will remain unnoticed. 1. This is a must. Bungie has been really quiet on a lot of things and it's about time the community gets an explanation. 2. Also agree, it would be nice if the missions also incorporated the lore of their cards as well. 3. I've skipped cut scenes before... maybe I'm just lucky? 4. You can get better rewards uping the difficulty, but only on the first play-through. I believe this is why they added the daily heroic missions. 5. Point based system is good. The idea I had was reward levels based on K/D. Generally the people with the higher points will have an above 1.0 K/D 6. Go back to #3 7. I personally think that Xur should help end game players by selling legendary materials for 2-3 coins a piece. It won't flood the game and give end-game players something to do. A system to get the other upgrade materials would be interesting. Gunsmith should be selling gun parts and the Vanguard mentors should be selling their respective upgrade material. Would give glimmer some more value as well. 8. They also need to start looking at taking the impossible bounties out. Scavenge is not always available, it should not appear on the list. 9. Personally, I feel like the app isn't all that bad. I would rather see clan integration in game so that I'm not forced to go through and systematically add people every time I want to play with someone new. 10. Return to #3 11. This. This a thousand times. People need to know the inner workings of damage calculation. I think I figured it out for the most part personally, but there are still things that don't make sense (like level advantage). I would love an answer. 12. I really need to find which cut scenes you guys are talking about. I guess there are some I haven't skipped but I know I've skipped one or two before.

                                  • I'll address your suggestions: 1. I totally agree. A little in-game direction as one reaches level 20 would go a long way. 2. I like the grimoire being on the website but it should also be in-game as well. 3. I think that we should be forced to watch the cutscene the first time we do the mission/strike/whatever with each character but after that initial time we should be able to skip it (if we choose). 4. A Story Playlist with rewards that tier with the difficulty would be hugely welcome. 5. I agree that the drops in PvP need to be addressed. I think that it should be a combination of the way it is now (where they claim that effort of the weaker player is rewarded) and a way in which the best players are rewarded for skill. To keep mid-tier players from just sucking on purpose (try and possibly do better or do worse on purpose ... let's face it players will most generally do the easier when given a choice) make it so that if you end up constantly mid-tier then it works on a point based system. This may take a while to get to work correctly, but something along these lines would be okay I think. (Note: Though I like the idea of rewarding effort of the bottom tier players I think that actual drops from PvP should be the least on low tier players, then a bit more on medium-tier and higher on top-tier. This should be per match, though, not overall. 6. Agreed. 7. I think that we should get planet specific materials as (possible) rewards for doing Bounties/Patrols on that planet. 8. Yes, we do need more bounties overall. I agree. 9. I don't use the app but I'm sure it could be improved. 10. Again, I agree. 11. Yes. We do need to start having in-game mechanics somehow explained IN-GAME. 12. Totally agree.

                                    • I agree totally with this. Anyone else tired of fighting vex, fallen, and hive majors? where is the Cabal Majors bounty? And rewards for the higher difficulty mission would be great, I agree with material rewards too, would help the people that do not enjoy farming like some do. (Got 2300 spinmetal atm ^_^) and it would be great to be able to sell or trade our gear based upgrade materials to the vanguard/crucible vendors / Plasteel, Hardonic essence etc. I am sitting on over 2k of each and thousands of weapon parts which ill never need. Im sure the npcs can put it to good use like they use our stacks of 50 farmables. Bungie need a Suggestion forum section and read the occasion good ideas the community has instead of letting these things fall into obscurity amongst the complaints and raid invite requests

                                      • All extremely good points, especially the cut scenes. Dealing with story modes, why not allow us to choose our own modifiers as Halo did in the past?? Being a long time Halo fan, I was discouraged to find that was not the case. Also no rewards for replaying story on a higher level astounds me. Having at least a materials bonus or currency reward would encourage players to replay the story missions other than the daily missions or grinding bounties. Also, why is there no firefight, last stand, horde, etc... In my opinion it was the most successful additions to the Halo franchise. More so, I would like a game that respects my time. Working full time and classes sap the time I have for gaming. I should not have to slog through crucible hoping for something good or grind a loot cave to get gear while it seems the current system 'luck of the draw' seems to take precedence over skill. Lastly, it seems like there is no established direction Bungie wants to go in, I could be wrong, but clue your fans into what you are working on would be a nice touch: finishing up loose ends from the story, new pvp maps, more/different weapons, etc... Well, that's my two cents. I just hope we can get some answers.
