It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

The female awoken and human just look cooler in my opinion, they look deadlier and fit in more i guess. I tried rollin with a male human and awoken but every time I was at the tower I was just like "SHEESH! What monstrosity have I created!?" Right now I have a female human hunter and a female awoken warlock. When I do titan I'll probably roll a male Exo just cause it seems like it fits that class, at least to me it does. On another note kudos to Bungie for not over sexuallizing female armor on an mmo. Well played dear sirs, stay classy.
