Why do so many guys play as female characters?

It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*). Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why? I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!" Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?" Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens. Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

Dat azz doe... Really though I have a male warlock and female titan and hunter. The Warlock seems like a male character, educated, tested, led by reason. Hunter seems like a female, flippant, competitive, led by emotion even when not logical. The titan I made a female awoken just to see if I got extra dialog In the reef, hoping there was some type of actual storytelling being done by bungie, it doesn't make a difference by the way. Having a smaller frame on the titan is a nice bonus, as well as the subtle ass sway when running through the tower, also I can have my girl jump on the mic and talk which makes it a lot easier if you're actually looking for help with something.
