It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

Honestly I think guy hunters look funny, hence why I have a girl. Titan males are very bulky and I prefer the armor of a female. And warlocks look odd either way to me.

4 RepliesVideo games are a chance to escape reality, why not embrace that to the fullest? My personal reason for having a female character is because the gear just looks better on them. Simple as that. To any guy out there that is uncomfortable with another guy having a female character are either sexually confused and uncomfortable with their own sexuality, or they want to "flirt with chicks" online and dudes having female characters make it harder. It's a game, everyone plays for their own reasons. No one needs to understand, and no one needs to agree.

Male warlocks look like shit, i like how the armor looks on male and female hunters
-
If I'm gonna have to stare at something all day I want it to look nice.

6 RepliesThis post is a yr old... Isn't it? I remember seeing this a LONG time ago

One reason is that it's better to look at females than males. Another reason I consider ( not in this game tho since I run all male characters ) is that in pvp most of the time the female characters will have smaller hit-boxes and are a little harder to kill because of this.

Lol didn't read anything but the title and know this (most likely) doesn't pertain to destiny but female characters tend to be faster. Anyone remember Jet Force Gemini for N64? Played as the girl in PvP all the time cause my friends could barely hit me of I button mashed the jump button she was so fast. I would jump around finding cluster bombs and the like so I could keep jumping and kill them (shooting while jumping sucked in that game)

3 RepliesI personally have all my characters female because they're smaller targets in the crucible thus making it harder to hit them

Edited by shwwn: 10/10/2015 4:54:36 AMIf I'm gonna stare at a screen for hours upon hours I want to be staring at a female's ass, not a male's ass.
And to the ones that will call me pathetic, yes I do have a girlfriend
Honestly, I don't know. I have three male characters, made a female, but didn't feel immersed

4 RepliesBecause it's the only time they get to be inside a woman.

I always play all rpgs as female characters in order to unlock the lesbian love scenes. Hoping to get a romance option with Eris when rank gets high enough
-
I build characters based on what I think they will play best as like fallout for Instance playing females get special perks and dialog options But for this game I do it based because the exotic armor me look diff on the genders and I like the female exotics on warlocks
-
1 ReplyBecause if I'm going to spend 1600 hours looking at a video game, it might as well be a woman
-
8 RepliesIf I'm going to stare at a toon for over 1,000 hours -- I prefer it to be of a female form. Legit reason. Have always done this. #LadyFormLove

25 RepliesMen play female characters because they are Caitlin jenners.

4 RepliesYear 2 and this is still a topic...and it's just as stupid now as it was then...

I've always preferred female characters. When given the choice, that's the gender I'll choose. Dont know why. Haven't played as a male character (by choice) since Pokémon Diamond version. I think it's because there's a lack of well-written or well designed female characters that isn't "let's make them have massive tits" and when I get a choice in an RPG game it's just my default choice.
inb4 I get called a "feminazi"
Personally my hunter is a girl because my girlfriend created it as her character but I play more often then she does I know a lot of guys play as girls because they would rather watch girls then guys, especially when the only time you really see your character is from behind in third person
-
Does an exo even have genitalia? Cuz that's what I play as.

My friend put it this way: "If I'm going to be stuck staring at an ass, it's going to be a nice ass" I then pointed out that it's mostly 1st person, but I can see his reasoning. Note before the comments roll in: we are both happily married with families and understand the difference between fantasy and reality... I play as a male.

I have a Hunter, Warlock and Titan. I have an Exo, Awoken and Human. I had three males and not having a female was pissing me off so I made a female.

Edited by InorganicLycan: 10/10/2015 4:46:58 AMDiversity. As someone who is an RPG fanatic. I don't want just guy heroes. There needs to be a leading female. Samus, Laura croft, fem. shep., yennefer. All strong female characters. It's just boring to always play the same thing. In the whole grinding aspect of destiny, some difference is good

3 RepliesSimply put I personally hate bulky toons which unfortunately all male toons are in games. And also in some games male and female toons would get and gain different stats so that made me more inclined to choose female toons. Now-a-days I barely use males because of how "muscular" they have to be, I personally don't care for over exaggerated features or stereotypical images games insist on having. In destiny the males are just super bulky and I hate it. Hope that sheds some light on my opinion on this maybe some people share this maybe not but I'm not here to judge.

Better character models, armor looks better, dance moves are better, and I like a good female protagonist. Take Samus for example, or Fem Shepard. Both are strong female protagonists, and are pretty awesome.
