It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

Variety? I played through fallout iii the second time as a girl because it was different and interesting.

Dat ass

Gear usually looks better on female characters (I'm looking at you Y1 ToO boots with glitter and sparkles). Plus I like boobs, so there's that...

I like looking at a hot chick for 900 hours instead of man ass.... Duh

2 RepliesEdited by a RAND0M M0DDER: 10/7/2015 1:59:47 AMI made mine female and based it off of Olivia Wilde. Destiny allows me to create the protagonist, so that's what I did. The story was bland Year 1 so I included a little personal imagination. Come Year 2 TTK, I was already familiar with the character and the inclusion of story blended well. I have low self esteem and don't want to see myself as the hero. That's -blam!- stupid. It kills my sense of disbelief and hated it about Reach. Stuck with default Noble 6 for campaign. Swapped for Multiplayer. Plus, aside from that -blam!- high bullet magnetism, the characters are small and seem to strafe better in my experience. I'll make a male character later on. I'll model it after the Hunter from the Live Action Wolf trailer. One day, one day...

2 RepliesYou know what's worse than that? When someone's character is an exo, but they put on the mic and they're a -blam!-ing human.
-
The same reason humans choose to play as an awoken or exo.
-
Heroines are bad ass. Gear looks better. Those blade dancers and how they fit all that ass in those greaves...
-
Had two dudes, didnt want a sausage roster. Plus I think hunters look cooler as chicks.

Diversity. Also reasons.

Cause Awoken Afro Mohawk for the ladies is so rad

Who was the cheeky bastard that bumped this post? It's a year old rofl.

3 RepliesAss is always the answer. If I have to stare at an animated toons butt for hour after hour, I'd prefer to stare at a female. I usually have a male as my main for RP and the ability to self identify but then I usually play females for the eye candy. Maybe it's sexist but at least it's honest. I like looking at cute girls. I did reroll my Destiny fems though because the emotes were kind of dumb. I've also always felt that the "I can only play a male toon because I'm a guy and not a fag that thinks he's a girl" argument is pretty lame and blatantly homophobic... Read as insecure in their own sexuality...

Some players do it solely for aesthetic purposes. And there are players that take in the possible tactical advantage. I don't know if it's true for this game, but typically female characters are built smaller and thinner than male characters. Character design can alter the hitboxes to be smaller and more difficult to hit. Even if all characters hitboxes were exactly the same, the appearance of the character itself can be a factor ala mind games. For me, it's aesthetic. But my main is a male exo hunter soooo.. Yea..

Honestly I have a male titan main and a female lock. Just fun to play both personally. In WoW my 3 mains, Lock, Protection Warrior and Holy Paladin are all male. I do have a female rogue.
-
this makes no sense, but at the time of making the character, i thought females looked 'smaller', and so there was less to hit in PvP haha

My first character was a male exo hunter, since i'm actually a gendered space robot that can shoot fire from my hands. Then I decided to try a titan, so I decided to role play as an awoken (since it is not technically living, just like my robot self), but I was worried that since it didn't shoot fire from its hands that it was going too far, but I'm glad Bungie fixed that with TTK. Finally I decided to make a female human warlock, since that was the only race/class/gender that I didn't have a character for. The only similarity between myself and that character though is my ability to shoot fire from my hands, or until I get the chest and genitalia adapter at least.

I rented the game before buying it when it first came out so i didnt care and just made a female character for fun and when i finaly bought the game i didnt want to start over so i kept the toon
-
I went based on Vanguard Zavala: Dude, Cayde:Dude, Ikorra: not dude, and IMO warlock robes look better on female characters.

The view.

One word boobs

Female characters look better in gear
-
Because the male hunters look like Jonny Bravo - triangles.
