It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

Edited by Deojee: 10/12/2014 7:37:29 PMIf there was more customization in creating a character I may have chosen differently, but I just prefer the female models. Edit: Additionally, I don't give a shit about the gender of my fellow guardians, skill is all I'm concerned with, I've never played with someone that had a female character and ever thought about them IRL,

So are you a girl because all your characters are female?
-
A couple of reasons. There aren't enough female protagonists and badass women beat badass males. I'm attracted to females so playing as a female makes sense to me. Women are better voice actors.
-
I'm a dude. I have two female characters and one male. In the beta it was opposite. I wanted to see what each gender in each class was like. I feel it gives a more complete experience with for the game. Also the female voice actors did a better job in my opionion, for what little we got of it.

this one time a girl joined my VoG raid and she couldn't jump on the pillar

6 RepliesI'm a girl and I play as guys all the time (in other games) but that's more because I just don't want to be treated any differently . Maybe guys play as girl characters because they know they will be treated differently as well?
-
4 Repliesfantasy world, I can pick whatever I want as it is not a representation of who I am personally.. ps. I'd rather stair at a female than a male toon.

1 ReplyWhy does it matter?

Eidos explained this almost 20 years ago. If you're going to stare at your character's butt for tens of hours, it may as well be a backside worth looking at.
-
My main is a male human hunter, but my second is Emily Blunt from Edge of Tomorrow. Aka a Titan. I just had fun making her. One day she'll be higher than level 3
-
Why does this bother you?
-
Because people rather stare at a female ass than a guys one.
-
Depends. If a game has a male protagonist who is absolutely beasted up with roids even though I want to either play a Mage/Stealthy person, I'll pick a female because their frame fits the class more. If a game features a protagonist that can conforms/can be edited to be like the class archetype, I'll be male. That's pretty much it for me. Males in this game aren't exactly up to their eyeballs in steroids, so that's nice for me.

1 ReplyFemale characters have smaller character dimensions. I use my female character for pvp

5 RepliesEdited by D2 is cancer: 10/12/2014 8:03:22 PMIs there a law that says you must play as a sausage if you have one? I always play a male if creating a badass male is possible. In destiny, have you seen the faces and haircuts males have? Don't know about the rest but when i play a male i don't want 'it' to look like a buttdriller. In Destiny there's no options but a chick

Speaking from experience, there's really no reason. I guess if I had to give one, I'd say it's because I want a bit of variety; playing a guy all the time gets old, y'know?
-
When I asked my friend this question, his answer was "because I don't wanna stare a guy's ass for hours on end" True story

Exo female has the best dance by far. Id prolly make one of those.

Edited by Endgame77: 10/12/2014 7:31:45 PMI'd venture the people playing female characters aren't doing out of some deep seeded issues but the people asking the question the OP did probably have a few deep seeded issues.... Personally I like hot female rock stars, I like hot female movie stars, I like hot female video game characters. I'm not my character ingame, I'm just playing a game.....

Why do so many Humans play as Awoken or Exos?
-
What you can deduce from the comments, is the fact that most people played MMOs in third person, so their experience carries over to Destiny. Evidently, when people create characters, they would rather look a girl's ass for hours upon hours, while questing, fghting, raiding…etc, than a guy's lol.
-
2 RepliesIn an MMO I usually go with female characters, because it's just my own personal preference, but I prefer the way women look to men. As for Destiny I was torn, because the majority of the time I don't see my character, and whenever I join a Fireteam it'll be my deep masculine voice people hear. On the flip side though, I do get to see my character in the menus, during Supers, and most importantly; while dancing. I went with a male character in the end, but I'm thinking about making a female one. I guess some people see their characters as representations of themselves, and others simply see them as characters they're controlling. I'm the latter... or perhaps I'm just a pervert. Either could be true.

Harder to get hit, easier to get hit on. Not an actual contribution I just wanted to say that.
-
I only want a female titan because I feel a woman add a titan would be badass

6 RepliesRather look at a girls Ass than a guy's for 100 hrs plus.
