It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

3 RepliesEdited by DnVrDt: 10/13/2014 1:31:41 AMHere is my explenation: i started with a male exo warlock that now is lvl 29+ so I wanted to see something different and today I created a female awoken hunter, gender that seems appropriate to me for an hunter. So no gender issue in my head only the wish to try all that the game has to offer. Also for my third character i really don't see apropriate to make a female titan so it will be a badass black human male.

I play as a guy in real life 100% of the time. Mix things up a little. Other than that, I have no clue really. I think the voice actors are a little better for girls, and guys are typically pigeon holed into being overly masculine and big and buff in games. That gets old pretty fast.

If I'm going to be looking at someone's ass all day (my character in Destiny ) it's going to be a female. Not a male
-
9 RepliesI made my warlock a female awoken only because I feel like that's what the character should be. I picture the Titan as a male exo and the hunter as a human male but could be female. It's called using your imagination and being creative.

1 ReplyA friend of mine plays as a female character because and I quote: " I find them better looking than the male options"
-
I'm a dude. And sometimes I roll chick characters. Why? It is simple. I get sick of staring at dude character models. That is it. Now granted the times I do this are typically when the game is 3rd person.

1 ReplyAs a young boy, I played exclusively male characters. Primary reason: "I'm a boy. Why would I want to be an icky girl?" As a young teen, I started coming into liking girls, and it was sort of that whole "I'm horny and alone and this digital girl is hot." Now, at the age of 21, I find them more aesthetically pleasing and I like to mix up any character roster I have with at least a couple females so it isn't a sausage-fest, though it's usually a 60/40 split, so it's coming closer to evening out. I normally primary a male character, such as Skyrim or Mass Effect, but I did that in the beta and since there are only 3 character slots, I can't exactly have a male and a female Hunter, so I said "F*** it, let's just make an Awoken Female instead." making this the first game I have primarily played a female character. Now, for pure creation's sake, I make a lot of female characters in my notes, stories and role playing games, as I find it more challenging to write about something I am not. As for games, where it's usually just a visual thing, I tend to stay with Male characters that more match myself, or my more favorite character of mine that represents me in RP's with friends. Destiny is the odd one for me since I have 2 female characters, though that's also partially because of Destiny. I didn't much like the look of the male characters, and my brother already took the robot slot (since he plays on my profile as the 26 Exo Warlock), so I made a female Awoken Hunter and a female Human Titan, though I've deleted and restarted the Titan several times as both genders before settling on female. But yeah, I just like the variety and they typically look better is basically what it boils down to for me.

I play girls because I'd rather be staring at a girl's ass for 100 hours than a dude's ass

Because society has eroded masculinity to the point where a man is not allowed to be a Man.

I don't play as females, but I can tell you why some do. Firstly, in a game setting with the option to choose, it shouldn't matter. Be it men or women, they are just characters. They are not accurate representations of yourself unless you choose to try to make them that way. Secondly, some guys like my friend I met the other day has a female Hunter. He said his physique in person is smaller framed. He ultimately feels better about playing female characters because the smaller build is more accurate to himself, not because he has the desire to be a female. Thirdly, back on the subject of them just being characters, people who enjoy creating stories or who are of the creative nature don't mind playing as females because they develope stories around these characters.

Better to stare at at girl all the time then a dude, and smaller character model=harder to hit.

u think there would be something wrong with a guy making a female character??? How about a guy playing Tomb Rider or Bayonetta, or maybe has been wrong all these years that girls play with male characters?? You just make your character as you wish, it doesnt have to mean anything in particular. I had a male and female Sheppard in Mass Effect, I made a male and female in GTA Online, I had 2 males and 1 females in Saints Row, and I have done that in other game too. Oh yeah, Im a guy and I play any game that I like and make the characters as I like just for fun
-
Probably because they appreciate the female body? Or maybe they want to mix things up since like every game has a male protagonist. There are quite a few different reasons. Either way, I don't think gender matters at all in videogames; doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl, and your character's gender shouldn't matter either.

My daughter likes to see a female character kicking ass

Gender identity issues.

First character was a male warlock. Second character was a male titan. Third character I made a female hunter. 2 out of 3 isn't bad, huh?

Someone asked the same thing a few days ago..My warlock male, hunter male, and titan is a female character n is my favorite. I like the head for Exo female better than a male. But truthfully it dates back to the halo days a female is smaller and was harder to hit

5 RepliesThere phedophiles.....cause all young boys see a girl toons and they ask if they can be there bf next thing you know BAM phedo got them

1 ReplyI'm gay, and RP as female to dominate all those boy on Internet always fun. Too bad this doesn't work anymore thk to the new invention of technology called voice chat. But no I just like how they look really specially female Titan. They are skinner than male counterpart which mean smaller target(in my mind. )
-
In some games and cases female characters "seemed" to have smaller hit boxes. But idk :/
-
I first started playing girls because my daughters like making my characters and they make girls but know I do it because they just tend to look better.

3 RepliesOh, that and the noises that female characters make crack me up everytime. It's like listening to a game of tennis
