It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

I have no problems playing as a female if i have no option but as i am a dude, i play as a male. I don't get why guys would go out of their way to play as female.
-
I chose hunter and titan as females because i like the character models better. I feel like the guy titan using certain armor pieces looks too square, the male hunters chest is so big compared to the lower half of the body, and the female warlock using certain gear has a really small waist and a big head. Sorry for the long paragraph lol
-
For me personally I get tired seeing Solid Snake and the Witcher kicking ass, so if offered the choice I tend to choose the female character. Plus the male titan looks like they can compete with the guys in gears of war just saying
-
3 RepliesIt's like asking why a male would write a female lead into a book or film.
-
6 RepliesPeople might as well quit Tomb Raider medroid and other female lead games. If you playing as a woman is strange. Then you have some identity issues.
-
Because they want to.
-
warlock armor looks better on a smaller frame. Titan armor looks better on a larger frame. hunters are the only ones that go both ways
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
I think male Warlocks look stupid.
-
Honestly I'd rather look at a female, but I always main male first, then switch.
-
I just thought it would be cool to change it up a bit. I have a female hunter just because I thought they looked cool. There's lots of games out there these days with female lead characters, I doubt only girls play tomb raider.
-
As a guy that has all 3 girl char. I just like the way they look. I will say the Titan look a bit better has a guy. Some like to put themselves into the game. I like to think of it like a movie. I love women in movies not so much the guys.
-
10 RepliesCause I'd rather not stare at man ass for hours and hours.
-
Not everyone identifies as their in game avatar. Some people create separate characters instead of trying to recreate themselves. I'm pretty sure video games would be a lot less interesting if the lead character designers just kept putting themselves in the game....
-
What I do in a video game has no reflection or representation of what I do or who I am in real life. Plus, who cares?

Female Exo Dance. Best of them all.

Edited by ARCANE2627: 10/9/2015 9:02:11 PMI'm a male gamer & personally I've always done this. Elder Scrolls, Fable, Defiance, Phantasy Star Online, Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic, Fallout 3 any RPG where I can choose my characters gender I've always opted for a female with red hair. I spend hours playing RPG's, mostly in 3rd person. I guess what it comes down to is this. I figure if I'm going to be looking at the back of a character for hours on end I want to be able to enjoy the view. Many players prefer to base their characters on themselves, it's a way of projecting themselves onto their character & that's fine. Maybe it goes deeper than simple aesthetics, I feel protective toward females so I'm more likely to be careful & play defensively when playing as a female character. For what it's worth my wife does the same thing, she plays Destiny as a male Hunter. Also, whether it's Dark Elves or aliens it's all about the blue skinned girls. That's a bit harder to explain but I suspect it's because I'm attracted to Scottish women.

I love the year-old question still getting answers, haha. All three of my characters are female, one of each race and class: I'm male. I began playing female characters after a 6-12 month binge on Final Fantasy XIV where I played a male Miqo'te. Then I realized I'd been religiously watching this guy who in no way resembles me wave his ass around for hours on end while I dressed him up. So it struck me I'd very likely much more enjoy the process with a pretty lady.

I have a female hunter cuz all my friends have female characters and I thought that female hunters look better than the male. U know what I'm sayings
rly do u know what I'm saying and not thinking I'm a perv like most 69 year old destiny players
2 RepliesMaybe they like cross dressing when home alone?
-
They all want to be Kaitlin Jenner.
-
Because the male titan looks like he got hit on the head with a post maul and all his dimensions went sideways. Female looks better in every respect. It's the same basic character I've been running for years in past games. And otherwise, I like looking at attractive women. No one, and I mean no one, looks better than my badass girl in the right gear
-
Because women are pretty
-
A Titan just looks right decked out in Medeival armor as a male to me. The warlock, I could care less. The hunter, needs to be female. Again, just looks right.
-
Am a girl, so that's why my characters are girls. Plus, most armor looks weirdly bulky on male characters imo.
-
Well I have a Male Human, an Exo, and a Female Awoken.

5 RepliesEdited by Eel SR7: 10/8/2015 4:22:13 PMMy daughter loves to watch me play, so I made my characters female to show her that girls can kick ass just as good as the guys. *edit: spelling
