It's so confusing when someone joins a fireteam with a female character and ends up being a dude (*cue Aerosmith*).
Do they all just want the D? But seriously, can any guys who do this shed some light on.. why?
I feel like someone pulled an Oprah, "You get a female warlock, and YOU get a female warlock! Everyone gets female warlocks!"
Edit: Jesus H. Christopher, I'm curious. I've noticed this quite often since I started playing, and I can't answer this question for myself, so I wanted some insight. inb4more "why do you even caaaaare?!!1!?!?"
Edit again: holy -blam!-, I'm a girl. Hence why I don't have insight to why this happens.
Edit, take three: thanks to everyone who gave a legitimate answer! I appreciate the insight :-)

I find that Male hunters look too bulky
-
3 RepliesIm trans it helps a lot with real life body dysphoria :) please dont judge anyone who chooses an in game gender that feels comfortable to them
-
I always play female characters cause for me as a dude it just feels odd to play as a male. Kinda like what everyone else has said, if you're a straight female you'll probably want to play as a male, if you're a straight male you'll probably wanna play as a female. Comes down to attraction and looks most of the time. Armor on male hunters and armor on female titans just looks odd, the proportions are kinda wonky.
-
I'll rather look at a women than a man.
-
1 ReplyI'm a male transgender so everytime I play a game in which I can play a female, I do it. It's my little pleasure since I can't be a woman in real-life.
-
i have a male warlock and titan but a female hunter and im a girl, in my opinion the females have a nice body shape so thats probably why
-
I'm a female but my hunter and warlock are male only my Titan is a female Titan! Nobody knows I'm female gamer so they thought I'm a damn kid!! But I prefer male characters because they look so cool!! I guess most of the men loves to watch bitches fight just kidding !!

All the Destiny waifus

1 ReplySome people think that the female body of the character makes the guardian harder to shoot since the body is thinner. This doesn't work at all in destiny but some people don't know that. Another reason why is because some players like to base their avatars off of their OC characters they use for rp. Sometimes a guy will use a female character for their OC. Also, some people just like the look of a female character in destiny.
-
1 ReplyI simply play as female cause they are nicer to look at lol
-
I don't think we should judge because it's their character and it's their choice.
-
9 RepliesI was just scimming through some old forum post and found this. I got to say that most of these answers are Super fu**ing stupid. "because guys are horny" , that is dumb. I main a female hunter and warlock, They seem a lot faster and they are smaller hit targets. If your are a main PVP player and you play on a female character, I have so much respect for you because you have a good reason, and that is the hit box for female characters. If you wanted to main PVE than I don't care what you play on, because it doesn't matter because ITS F**KING PVE, no one cares.
-
2 RepliesI have male titan and warlock and female hunter. I guess different genders just suit different classes better.
-
I skimmed through making my last character just so I would have all 3 and didn't pay attention and ended with a female character. I ended up not caring and was too lazy to delete.
-
I find its better for a smaller target in crucible

Edited by Splatterman: 8/28/2016 5:26:12 PMIt's just more fun sometimes. It's not because of "dat ass" (though it can be nicer than bulky dude ass), or because of softies or whatever, and it's not meant to confuse or weird out. It's just fun sometimes to play a badass woman. My friend plays women most of the time in games, especially single player ones, cause he likes making that person and building it up both in game and as a character. It may look weird if you don't play as female chars as a guy, but when you try to start evaluating why they do you've already put more thought into it than them most likely

:) In my opinion, we choose what fits best for us. For example, I thought the male HUNTER model looked really odd, and none of the armour seemed to fit well. So I erased him before I even got to lvl 40 and started a female and was instantly happier putting the time in with that character. The female TITAN suffers in a similar fashion I think, armour seems to have been designed to fit the bulkier male Titan, he feels heavier and makes fist of havoc seem more solid, really satisfying BOSH!! Hahaha... WARLOCKS are pretty cool in general and can go either way quite happily. Someone I play with made the exact same character face for each of the classes, warlock, titan and hunter. It's cool because I always feel it is HER playing, rather than an avatar, gives her real personality. Still, for my money I like the escapism of having diff characters each with their own flavour. Also, as someone here said, the female character is sometimes more liveable. Personally I can't stand the macho hero voice and tough-guy posturing that a lot of games make you inhabit with the male. For me it is not about the ass, or being soft, or transgender, or misdirection or any of that. Sorry if it is confusing. There is another side to it too I suspect. As a guy I have played various games over the years where you had to play females (like Tomb Raider etc). If it was weird at first then I must have got over it v quickly. In a lot of fighting games the female characters are faster and have cooler moves than the men, so I often chose the girl. Every girl who played Zelda played as Link, a male character, that wasn't strange, it's just an accepted phenomenon of gaming. So I think we have been given the choice for so long that it would suck if we were gender cast (according to your PSN account for example). I am a guy btb 34yrs old.
-
People on here are saying it's because of the ass and all that, but the majority of the game is 3rd person and if you're a Hunter don't you have a cloak covering it anyway?
-
2 RepliesI got a male Titan, Hunter, and Warlock...cuz I'm a dude....and the Guardian is supposed to be us....and if I'm a dude, I'm going to pick a dude character. If you're a guy, and you pick a female character, and it's supposed to be you.....just makes things a bit weird.....a lot of bit weird. My Titan looks awesome and is beast at the same time >:) Jelly? You get everything that I don't. Like....getting to beat King's Fall ;(

Because of soft dudes

2 RepliesI have 3 characters, a male human titan, a female awoken hunter, and a male exo warlock. The reason for my female hunter is because my friend told me females have a smaller hit box and are faster than males. Plus I think of hunters as quick and agile so I thought that would fit perfectly. And plus, like almost every guy gamer, DAT ASS!
-
1 ReplyIt's simple really, as you already said your a girl, and therefore you probably like men, do you want to stare at a female all day, I don't want to stare at a man all day...plus Female Awoken and Humans look cooler then the male counterparts 😜😜
-
Edited by Sierra: 3/17/2016 2:59:46 PMi'm a girl :) but my main account on the PS4 my hunter is an exo male hunter so whatever ... in my opinion male hunters are better than ASS female hunters .
-
i have 2 male characters and one female titan and i just dont like the bulky tank look of the male.
-
For me it all depends on the game, in MMO's it can come down to females having better Armor to males, in RPG's it can be a mix of better armor, story reasons if there are gender specific perks and in other cases like say Mass Effect better voice actress over the male version.

...Lara's fault!!! ever since Tomb Raider, all heid bangers should be bonnie looking lassies :-)
