We already have strike playlists which I think are awesome. It allows you to pick a level of difficulty with possible loot rewards and other things.
But,
What about Story playlists!?
To push beyond the typical Daily heroic mission we should have the "Story Playlists" area on the director menu where we can pick a level of difficulty with possible rewards and play through the missions again with small bounty rewards and random loot. This would be a great addition for you guys at Bungie just in case you decided to add revised cut-scenes or story information into old story missions as you all release patches, plus it will give us incentive to play the story in a sequential order (or as sequential as possible so we can see the connections between each mission).
(This would be a sort of New Game Plus feature because then we could not just select a single level for story it would just continue in order one after the other.)
One feature could also include that after say quitting the story playlist for the day, you can start it back up right where you left off with a brief prompt from the director menu or start from the beginning again. Also maybe have the game on Epic mode so that it's more challenging or some other type of difficulty perk like the Queen's Missions have to make the story playlist worth while in difficulty.

A Weekly New Game Plus!:
Another idea would entail letting us replay the whole story including the first mission at not just a higher difficulty, but at a higher difficulty with XP, Engram Drops (or other items like Ascendant materials for every 10 missions you complete at level 28) and etc. So if we play through the whole story each week at a higher level (like level 20, 24, 26, 28) we get good perks for playing them again. This would be a once a week play through that we could do. Then after we play through all the missions for the week it wouldn't have the perks anymore or just merely XP bonuses.
This is merely an alternative to the Strike Playlist idea since I've seen comments that suggest the Playlist idea would be to hard to implement with matchmaking without it being random story levels selected.[/i]

I dont think more repetitive things will be better for the most repetitive game. :( Strike playlist is already boring as hell. There are not enough things even to repeat lol.

The content is already there, just add some randomizer and a loot table at the end of it and bam! Relabeled and presented before the masses, just with a shinier bow. Im all for it, the missions seem like a waste as they are now. No real incentive for me to play it over on 20+ since I really don't get anything out of it except a repeat of 2minute long cutscenes. At the very least add rewards to the end of the 20+ missions for an incentive to replay them.

I think if the story mode had to be done in order, some people would have a rough time getting matched with other people who were on the same mission as them, depending on the time of day that said person was playing. Especially if they had adjustable difficulty levels. Solid idea tho, I've always thought lvl 28 heroic stories should reward upgrade materials for their respective planet. I don't mind farming chests, I've got that down to a science, and it's easy to do while grinding daily events, but it'd be nice to be rewarded for enjoying the story, lmao

I like the idea of better rewards for redoing story missions. Bungie could even up the levels of the enemies and include matchmaking.

Great idea! Should be able to set the difficulty for better perks, like you said. And maybe bigger fire teams for the harder levels would be cool.
