why is raid gear better than other gear?
I don't understand why the legendary chest piece i got is better than what I got from queens wrath?

Raid gear gives more light when fully upgraded. You need it to reach lvl 30

1 ReplyNormal legendary gear caps out at +27 Light when fully upgraded. Exotic and Raid gear caps out at +30 light. +27 on every peice of gear will only put you at level 29 while +30 will put you at level 30.

Its just stupid, to get to level 30 u need the raid gear. i love dead orbits gear don't want to get rid of that just for level 30 so level 29 i will stick with.. wished bungie did the same as DC universe online that once u unlocked a specific gear style u can eguip that one with the stats of the raid gear (from destiny) for example

Raid gear is always the best gear in MMO games. Also raid gear in Destiny is harder to get than any other.

Excuse by why is gear from an end game event better then stuff that any low level Dregg can drop or from a strike that I can solo? See how silly that sounds.

10 RepliesBungie would get a LOT of flak if they didn't make the Raid gear worth something. In MMOs loot from Raids are pretty much always superior because of the time and effort put into it; Destiny has some aspects of MMOs and this is one of them.

Also if your chestplate is fully upgraded then comparing it to a chest with no upgrades is going to look rather pathetic.

Because it was forged out of time.

Because Raids are the toughest challenges that Bungie has in Destiny and they had to make the rewards for completing these Raids proportional to the time and effort that went into beating them. So Raid gear trumps gear found anywhere else in the game.......for now. Xur will probably be selling Raid gear in January and there will probably some new armour in the game that will push everyone past Lv.30.
