YOU WANNA KNOW WHY WE'RE FARMING!!??
Because farming gives you the same amount, if not, more loot then you would in a strike or whatever. Why go through the trouble of constantly dying, leaving teammates, and bullet sponge bosses when you have an easier time getting 5 times the rewards farming the cave.

I just do it to get stuff to level up the cryptarc. I always have the worst luck in strikes and never really seem to get anything anyways, even when I've had to carry my teammates, so farming is just an easy way to make up for lost loot

If you want to farm, go right on ahead. I just think this isn't Borderlands 2 where you literally had to do that nonsense. Destiny provids quite a few means to the same end. I think you farmers are just impatient. Seriously, though, the Cryptarch IS quite the douchand I really hope Bungie patches his shanannagins. Purples are rare enough to come by without them being decded into the same junk as blues. Or at least it ought to be a unique or vary rare blue. I remember when I used to get excited when I came across a purple endgram. Not any more. It reminds me a lot of dating. It's exciting at first, but you soon learn it almost always ends in disappointment.

I have farmed some. I will probably do more. I also do bounties. I've done strikes. I started Vault of Glass with some people and we got our tuchas handed to us repeatedly. I'm not much into PVP but it seems I almost *have* to get some things so I've been doing a bit. And ya know, I still farm some and I will probably do more. Why? Because it is one of many activities I happen to partake in when playing Destiny. If you choose to spend all your time on the other numerous activities, that's great. I choose to spend a little bit shooting things coming out of a cave. Whoop-dee-doo.

We farm because of the 6 legitimate legendary engrams that have dropped (or given when leveling up the Cryptark), I've received exactly 0 decoded as legendary . . . lots of rare which is usually less than the rare I'm already using . . . extremely disappointing. I mean, at the rarity they drop, I would hope that the conversion rate would be much higher than 0% in my case . . . hell, even one conversion now would put it below 15%. So very rare drop, with very rare conversion equals lots of time grinding/farming . . . and to tell me to run the Nightfall strike isn't the solution, I'm not leveled high enough to make a run at it and need better equipment to do that . . . I try to max out my vanguard marks, which is where my one piece of legendary came from, I bought it after grinding out enough missions to get it.

Not you >_> maybe I don't feel like trying todo 30 strikes in day no more this is easier for me and im level 27 hunter with no leg helm at all still wearing my Rare helmet and cryptacrh rank is lv 30 because fh e cave but I DO have 3 Diffrent leg helmets for my titan and warlock and I honestly don't wanna play as them so they are sitting in the vault till I feel the need to play as one of those classes but for now I'm a hunter and all I want is hunter gear but by this time tomorrow imma have enough vanguard marks to buy me one from the mentor npc and be close to 28 and don't tell me I should do pvp i got destiny for just the Pve aspect I just choose not to when but when iron banner comes out tho? I will do it just wished they didn't make it a special event that's so long away ><

I think that is the key. In my experience they seem to drop at the same rate. So for me why sit there and shoot a cave when I can add a little variety to my game? I enjoy the gameplay and getting better gear is the bonus. I don't come here for the gear to start off with. I'm not judging people that do want to farm the cave. If that is how they enjoy the game then more power to them.

I'm farming so much to bring food and revenue to my family. I got 3 kids and one of them, my eldest, Veronica, is going to college next year. College isn't cheap and with this economy.. Well I just am not sure if I could afford it. I might have to sign off for a second mortgage, maybe pull Little Jerome off his Jute Keen Do lessons.. He's a lonely kid and that's all he's really passionate about these days..

It's your Destiny....... to play how you want to. That's a huge thumbs up to Bungie. If don't have hours and hours to sit and play through strikes and raids then being able to catch half an hour every now and then is perfect, farming time. #thejoysofatherhood

I think it's hysterical how many people are treating this game like some old school Ultima Online RNG grind. Please, all of you should definitely continue to farm the shit out of whatever glitched spawn points youc an find. I'll play for a fraction of the time, earn marks and rep, and continue gearing up faster than you while also enjoying the variety of content. I don't know who started this herd of stupidity with the idea that you earn gear quickly by playing the RNG, but the rest of us are in the tower laughing while being weighed down by the legendary and exotic equipment we're buying on the reg, week over week.

14 RepliesTrue, but guess how I earned all of my lovely gear. 3 Exotics, 2 from Xur, several Legendaries, all the armor came from Vanguard except the boots. The four weapons came from Strikes. And guess what, now when I'm not farming I turn the cave into a sit-therapy room for money launderers. Because in order to become legend you have to prove you have what it takes to use the Legendary gear for the legendary portions of the game.

I don't like shooting the same damn thing with multiple clips, much less for several minutes blasting it with everything. I've already beat all strikes and the main game itself so....I'm not missing anything.

1 ReplyStrikes are one of my favorite things to do in destiny but between that and public events it does not take long to reach the vanguard mark cap and then strikes become a bit pointless. Although they are fun they just simply are not rewarding at all at high levels. If they got rid of the mark cap or at least raised it then I would play strikes way more but let's face it, the overall goal is to be as badass as you can and get all the best gear. Therefore we are forced to farm the cave. This loot system is terrible. Given the poor legendary engram trade in value they should make strike bosses drop guaranteed legendary engrams. Chances are it will just turn into rare guantlets or some shit anyway but what it will do is give people more incentive to play strikes and make friends you know, the way bungie intended. So many things could have been better about this game.

Having fun doesn't matter as long as you get the gear right? To be clear, if people wanna farm I have no problem with it whatsoever. It just blows my mind that people are willing to trade game time that could be engaging and exhilarating for what is essentially a slot machine. You guys keep pullin that lever and getting your engrams. I'll be in the crucible tearin it up and having some fun

I prefer to grind on Venus. Runnin' and gunnin' a circuit. I got a perfect loop going. I won't get as much as you farmers, but it just feels so much more satisfying and relaxing. I'm a weirdo.

I've seen people grinding and maybe it works for some .but most people that praise it .i look at there stuff there's nothing there but basic stuff. all my best stuff came from the crucible no joke . Public events also give great items if you can time it right .
