I LOVE this game to death but i wish bungie wouldnt have overhyped it :/ Im still gonna buy all the DLC and expansion after 1 and 2 though (got LE) So hbu guys? Was anyone smart enough to go into this game without the hyped expectations and like it EDIT: Turns out i dont have the stuff i need to screen record my xbox even though i thought i did. So sorry guys :((((((((((

  • Of myself & the people I know who own the game it is about 80% positive. Personally I think it is very good fun & I have yet to touch on the level 20+ content. I do feel there are some legitimate concerns though. The storyline doesn't go into enough depth & there are very few interesting characters. I understand that this is just the beginning & a game that is supposed to span years isn't going to reveal everything in the 1st week, however believable & exciting characters should be inherent in any good story. As for the massive hype, if you are going to spend $300m+ on a production you need to hype the crap out of it.

  • I am very much enjoying destiny as mechanically and technically it is a very strong game. But at the same point it is very shallow and lacking in many aspects. With regards to the story, I had no idea what was going on, i came back to life, some children are scared rasputin is a warmind computer ai (sounded interesting was starting to get interested) we have to find a way to reach him, and then no mention of him until the dust palace strike. The story for me at least lacked cohesion. the foundations for a decent story and ingame universe are there, but buried under poor exposition. The mission structure was pretty much the same except for that one moon mission. I don't expect much variety in an fps, but ven halo mixed it up a bit with some vehicle sections, minor horror (flood reveal) and an intereting finale ( boss battles not so much, but the halo reach last stand and halo 3 driving over exploding structures). tl/dr The basis of a great game is there, but it truly needed to be able to stand on its own without the inclusion of a dlc expansion. Who knows what bungie plans to do though, the queens wrath event might shed more light on the story, characters and their motives.

  • Like it? Hell no! I love it while I do have niggles with the game they are merely that niggles they will eventually be sorted looked at etc and while the story was somewhat short I have just finished it and been playing the game since launch and though the story was a bit on the light side both in variety of missions and actual story but it was an enjoyable lil romp that I feel will be expanded upon a lot in the future. So yeah love the game have niggles well worth the £95 I spent on L.E

  • The game was pretty much exactly what I expected. I'm satisfied. This will be a great game to get lost into and then when there's not much to explore or loot, I'll just be counting bodies in the Crucible.

    • I thought the story was a great Exposition, and that most of the criticisms are to its benefit. Destiny required you to be creative and fill in some blanks for yourself, otherwise there would have been too much story for you to maintain a unique vision for your character - and much of the story and way the game works requires you to seek it out: REAL LIFE IS EXACTLY THE SAME (but that's all I'm saying about that - go seek it out.). Back in the day, Legacy of Kain: Soulreaver, taught me about what to expect from a game (huge build up and effort for a big: TO BE CONTINUED across the screen.). Destiny reminds me of when I was a little kid and I would play with action figures with my friends. If you went through the story alone, or with randoms and it wasn't people you know or game with - then I can understand not liking it, that would have sucked. But everyone I have played with that has a sense of imagination and wonder seem to really love Destiny, and none of them consider it a grind (some with less imagination agree wholeheartedly, several people I know could care less if there was a plot - they just want to shoot the stuff). Over the past week I have played with over a dozen different friends and clan mates, and each time I learn something new - I'm glad I can say that my friend taught be about that high perch that ultimately lead to me finding that ghost I now tell people about, and another friend who revealed that it is worth it to seek the goddess on the planet Venus. Those weren't false promises from Bungie, that was marketing. I tend to ignore all the details that companies release while promoting a game, as first I don't want spoilers, and second I understand they are just trying to generate interest. I am still curious as to where I can customize my ship with faction designs, but I only have rank 1 in Vanguard so maybe this unlocks at a certain level? I'm eager to discover. See you starside!

    • The game isn't deserving all the hate, but most people don't realize all the work that goes into the visuals or mechanics...I think all the entitled ps3/360-ps4/Xbone brats need to be forced to play an ATARI 2600 for a month and maybe they'll appreciate how good they have it with gaming now.

    • This game is amazing! I had a ridiculous amount of hype for this game, only to find out that what I was expecting would require a console the size of my room to run it. But, despite that, I love every second of this game! The coop and multiplayer experiences are awesome as well as the story and patrol

    • I like the pve and the pvp. I also have the foresight to see the blank spaces on the map where other things can pop up and what i expect to be a nice gradual stream of events and game play. instead of swamping you with everything at once. I love the difficulty of the bosses when level appropriate, its nice to have a challenge and it is how a boss should be. The gameplay sensitivity responsiveness is all smooth. it has so many positives i am too a bit shocked at the hating. A good story is nice to have, and makes it interesting, adds depth, a bit more lore behind things might be nice, but im not as dissapointed as some people seem to be. the game delievered what i expected. and im looking forward to more please.

      • I am enjoying it too. I didn't listen to hype, just "hey looks cool, gonna buy it." Glad I did. I am really enjoying the Strike List, and hooking up with other players. Damn, some of those bosses are difficult. :) Although the game stills need some tweaking, there is plenty to do to keep busy. I am grateful to those who are pointing out the flaws so Bungie can address them and make a greater game overall. That said, going to keep playing and fully leveling up one of each class (and sub-class). Only half way through main story and in no hurry to complete it. Will be purchasing the expansion packs.

      • Really enjoying this game, love the hybrid FPS / MMO feel. They took a gamble and I appreciate it. Most FPS games get boring, MMO's are a grind for every damn thing, this (to me at least) sits right in the middle of the two. Only thing that is annoying is the lack of in game guild support / ranking / grimoire and pvp medal codex

      • Actually, I love the game. I don't care what the detractors say, I disagree with them on most every point. destiny is fun, and addictive with a very high replay value. I am very happy with this purchase.

      • I like destiny the 3 things I have issues with is you can't talk to people without having a fire team made the missions have to be replayed a few to many times and it has to be played online ....if someone has internet outage in their area then they can't play a game they paid 65 dollars for. other then that I love this game. I just have a hard time finding people to play with on xbox one

      • Definitely enjoying this game, the story was a bit short but we will get more and more of it. I expected the grind the second Bungie mentioned MMO, so that did not surprise me. I enjoy doing strikes and the crucible with my fireteam. My main and my major issue with this game is the voice communication and the lack of audio settings that we can adjust.

      • I LOVE it actually. I see the problems with it, but honestly, I see the game as an Act 1. The story in this version is just the tip of the iceberg(a very small tip however) Expansions will, uh, expand upon the story. Also...I've got PLENTY of fireteam members so my social gaming experience makes the game that much better.

      • It was barely even over hyped what's so ever. Most of the hate threads are trolls or people who can't get legendary engrams (bitch and moan threads)

      • I like it, got exactly what I hoped for out of it - a shooter with solid gameplay mechanics and mmorpg elements in an interesting (if not poorly presented in terms of the campaign's story) universe. It didnt live up to the hype - both bungie's hyping and that of the community but I'm satisfied nonetheless. Now I want to see where they go with it a few months down the road.
