Destinys Chat (Or lack there-of)

So I found on a thread about the lack of public chat in Destiny, a response from Deej himself. (Link at bottom)
Our concern was that people who are not your friends won't respect the quality of your experience. UPDATE: Sharing all of this feedback with the people who should read it. We'll see what they have to say.
On the plus side, it's being looked into (at last). On the other hand. "Other people may not respect the quality of your experience" What??? Ok, I get it, trolls and such. Thanks for the consideration, but perhaps a tad misplaced? I have to ask, how difficult would it be to mute the troublemakers? I've heard of game devs underestimating the intelligence and ability of gamers (The amount of times you hear them say 'this game will challenge you' only to be easier than the 5x table) but c'mon, thats ridiculous. I only bring this up because it causes some more concerns for me. What other afterthoughts are there? Ok I only played the beta, which was great fun, don't get me wrong. But what about Private PvP lobbies, why aren't they allowed? Is that so there's more of a population within the Crucible? Or what about the way crucible reward system randomises the loot gained from playing? To be fair to everyone?? I have put faith into games pre-release before, most recently Aliens: Colonial Marines where I pre-ordered the £80 collectors edition. (The one occasion I was grateful for a late delivery, allowing me to cancel it before I lost out on £80.) Anyone with other concerns please comment, or if you can help alleviate mine that'd be great too. Still looking forward to the game of course, still got it pre-ordered. See you soon Guardians!!! • I'm pumped there's no proximity chat, splitscreen, or raid matchmaking. People like to say it's not a social game, and that is absolutely bullshit. The social interactions in Destiny are being set up to emphasize the quality and depth of the interactions rather quantity. If you take the time to make a fireteam to talk to instead of just using proximity chat, you're going to want to stay with that team because of the time it took you to form it, and the difficulty it could take to form another. It emphasizes the quality of the interaction with your fire team over the quantity of interactions you can have with randoms. Same thing with raid matchmaking. If you have to take the time to find a team, you're going to value that team more than you would if you can just randomly jump into a matchmade raid. If you're playing on splitscreen, what's your incentive to go and find someone else to play with (besides being tethered to another person)? While it is nice to have a friend there, it completely takes away from the in game social aspects.
