  • Ha no because the woman is going to through physical stress of popin one out and will have to take care of the baby initially. The father has no part in that and should work because he's simply not needed all day everyday, he can take 8 hours to provide a service he will get payed for and his employers should not give money away because he wants to sit and watch TV or some stupid crap. I will be a father in April and I'll be at bootcamp when my child is born, the Marines won't tell me to take a week off from grinding through shit just so I can go see my child be born because they have expectations that I'll have to live up to. Your just looking for handouts plain and simple, and you think you should be given money for not doing a goddamn thing. It's people like you who ruin this economy.

  • First of all, in no way are women paid for the pain they endure during child birth. Women are, as you stated, are compensated for when they have to take time off for having a child, and from there, the early stages of raising that child. You're saying that the father has no place in that beginning stage of development, which is extremely sexist (at least by today's standards). What you're saying is equally as archaic as a man saying that a woman has no place in the workforce, especially if they're planning on having children. Your line of thinking means that women shouldn't even the job paying for her maternity leave, as well as the compensation that comes with it.

  • Yeah way to attempt to combine two separate issues into one and making a flimsy attempt try and make my viewpoint sexist against women. The baby doesn't recognize people at first so the father is most certainly not required to be their 24/7 and can most certainly take time to work his job. The woman however will have just dealt with a massive physical transformation and will need to arrange plans to take care of the child when she goes back to work. Also when the condition of the women reaches a certain point during the pregnancy she won't actually be able to perform her duties thus the leave. The man will always be capable of performing the work necessary as he deals with absolutely nothing in the way of a physical transformation. But let's not forget about what this is truly about, you wanting to get paid for doing nothing.

    You argument about "children not being able to recognize their father" isn't entirely true. These facts are the result of what is essentially a real life "Telephone Game". Secondly, maternity leave isn't just from the time between labor and physical recovery. This "physical transformation" you speak of encompasses only a portion of maternity leave. Therefore, maternity leave, in its current state, is not valid by your argument. Your argument is faulty. Oh, and this isn't about getting paid to do nothing. It's about getting paid to do [i]something[/i]. Just as women believe they shouldn't be paid less for doing the same job, I feel that men shouldn't be paid the same for doing [i]more[/i] work.

  • Oh so now it's about equality lol The world is in no way equal at any time ever and that's a fact, you just want to whine and bitch that she's getting paid to take care of the child for a little while and when she's in the process of making arrangements to take care of the child when she goes back work. Also in a household where the man and the woman works it's usually because of financial issues and generally speaking if the woman is working she is definitely in need assistance.Also what would the father do? Change the diaper every time? Again he is not needed at all and it's not like his job will completely prevent him from seeing his child he'll still go home and spend time with the child therefor nullifying your argument that the man would be doing something while on this"paternal leave" because it will occur any ways. And yes this is most definitely about wanting to sit around because kids don't magically disappear and the employer will want his workers back and the kid will still be around when they go back.
