Hey flood, I'm sure there are other martial artists around. Just curious which arts are more (or less) common with you fine folks.
Also, if you have any cool (or funny) fighting stories, they are welcome.
One time my instructor had a knife pulled on him and he knocked out the attacker with a beer can.

Tang Soo Do and Kickboxing formerly, kicked it in the head a few years back... I apologise for the pun. In my last tournament fight the guy sucker punched me and broke my nose, the referees decided I was too shaken to continue and the other guy won by default... I don't miss those smaller competitions but at least I could do pretty well in them, my biggest fight I got my backside handed to me because I got entered in the wrong weight class, that wasn't fun. Still, I learnt a lot, helped me get in the habit of exercising.

I *used* to do Karate with my dad and brothers, one of the proper styles as well not just the easy silly stuff that passes for it <.< That was a long time ago now though, I haven't really had the time or inclination to go back to it lately so it's just kind of a memory now. There was an amusing time when the instructor did a -japanese name for a reversal kick that I can't remember- on my dad as a demonstration and sent him flying out of the partition straight into a badminton game ._. For context, the instructor is a short and slightly built guy compared to my dad who's a tall tank. It was quite fun <.< I might go back someday but it's unlikely.
