Not sure if anyone has thrown this out there yet but here goes...
Knowing that this is a FPS, spaceship dogfighting will probably never make it into Destiny. However, what if there were public events where individuals or fire teams could board orbiting enemy supply ships? Or it could even be a time limited Strike. Say, the ship is only in orbit for 12 hours every few days. Strikes on orbiting ships could have several different objectives: eliminate high value target, gather intel, recover golden age artifact, destroy the ship, etc., and possibly a combination of those objectives. And, of course, any ship would be a Darkness Zone.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Yes, it would be possible to include dogfighting in Destiny. I was saying it's likely not probable in the near future. I'd love to see it happen though.

This is an amazing idea
-
Great idea

It would be kind of like the Halo series where you board a Scarab/Lich and consequently destroy it! Good idea! Except, these ships should be a bit bigger, like a full strike.

Man dude that sounds sick would love to see this if not in this game maybe there second one but this is a really good idea
-
Good Idea.

I noticed my ship in the beta had more guns than my brothers(I bought a ship from the shipwright) why would they include guns if they were simply drop ships?
-
Let us have some fun*!*!* let us fly it and shoot something... I promise not to crash it. Now that's a million dollar idea for free, let us get a call from friends and location be able to really fly there and crash the area jump out and save the day or depending on how you land, if you land proper you live but if you hit a mountain you die. Come on. I got tons of these ideas..

the dlc should be private matches. probably the best idea
-
I like this idea.

sounds legit to me I would like to see some space combat though

Edited by Deanobaby12: 8/19/2014 10:23:33 PMThere's gonna be to much that they can do to upgrade this game like customizable sparrows and more choices for how your personal character looks its open world I don't wanna look the same as others and they could even add being able to go into the city below showing the people who's protecting them and having different venders across the city i would say add a trade option but there arnt or was not a lot of options for weapons but i only say this cause of the beta, this is pretty much just a long way of saying I support you and hopefully they see what we want and add it.

Edited by GalaxySpider: 8/19/2014 5:28:33 PMWell, Halo Reach was a FPS shooter too and yet it had two space combat sections. Everything is possible I guess. Also I like your idea with daily events.
-
Nice idea. All for it
-
I like the idea, but disagree that fps can't have ship fights. Battlefront did.
-
-
I like it.
-
I support this.

Yeah I'm thinking Bungie have teased the hell out of 4.6mil players, on launch I'm guessing their is going to be a lot more variation on what we saw in Beta, plus over the 10 years Bungie say they are invested. "Drooling, Wipes Chin" not long now ;)
-
Sounds pretty cool. I would like to go into a fallen jump ship.
-
I think this is a wonderful idea. And who knows, maybe dogfights are in DLC or Destiny 2.
-
In one of the interviews at Gamescom there was a question about ships and the response "In Destiny one ships are just vanity." So either they teasing us or they actually plan to do with ships on a future sequel. They also said for this installment they wanted to "keep us on the ground." Bungie = tease

Well it looks like one of the Fallen ships is perhaps docked on Venus, so there is a chance we'll be able to go inside? I like the idea.

Legit

Edited by Hylebos: 8/18/2014 5:07:19 PMDepending on how the Reef is set up, that could possibly work, something like "An enemy ship has docked with the wreckage you're in, destroy it's power core and then BAIL LIKE CRAZY BEFORE IT BLOWS UP!", it'd be interesting to see how it plays out.

Edited by Lost Fallen13: 8/19/2014 1:51:17 AMNot a bad idea. You might only have it in explore mode but some event could prompt you into accepting a public event to invade enemy ship and if you accepted there would be a scene of your ship flying out to board the enemy ship (serves as loading screen) then you complete your objective and it either drops you back in explore mode when your done or gives you another option to go to orbit maybe...
